Don't think Mourinho cares about FA. With all the money theyve given him to spend it's either league title or nothing this year.

Meanwhile... Wenger making a strong push for 6th FA cup! Yay.... :Alone:

USA strated in interesting lineup

3-5-2

Besler-Jones-Birnbaum
Yedlen - Bradley-Dempsey-Mix-Shea
Jozy-Wood

Went up 2-1 in the first, now knotted up 2-2 in the 70th minute. USA fitness hasn't been good enough in the last few minutes. One of the things I don't like about MLS season. Some of these guys haven't played professionally in months. They can run and things like that but it's not thesame as match fitness. I think JK needs to put up earlier camps.

Need better results for the Yanks. USA did well in the first half, but just wasted possession in the second. That being said, I don't think either second half goal goes in with Howard in the net and probably not with Freidel. I think Rimando's size screwed him in both goals. First one because I think Guzan or Howard being much larger trap the first one that Rimando parried or at least get a lot more muscle in the parry. Second one he was over compensating instead of saying home which is something Rimando has to do because of his size. At 5'9 he's short for a back line player (USA back line today's shortest player was Deandre Yedlen at 5'8. Rest of back line was 6'0 or taller)

Interesting thing as well. Seems like Klinsmann is testing Shea at LB. While I prefer Garza, Johnson, and Chandler, building up versatility for Shea isn't bad (his best shot of staying on the national team is versatility)

Small FIFA 15 rant. In what sane reality would you rate Julio Cesar equal to Tim Howard and GiGi Buffon? It doesn't make sense. In Buffon you have the anchor for Italy and Juventus. In Howard the Anchor for the US and Everton. In Julio Cesar you had a guy who coudln't push Bob Green for PT at QPR. He was a second choice keeper at Toronto FC. Seriosly, how can they justify that rating for someone who hadn't played for a club who plays in Europe since 11-12. Over Howard who was the best keeper at hthe World Cup and Buffon who's one of the greatest ever and still has it, as is evidence by him keeping Sirigu an immensely talented keeper behind him.

I mean I think it's a crime to insinuate Cesar and Buffon are on similar levels.

What other keeper won MotM on a losing side?

Howard had more saves than Neuer despite playing 300 less minutes. While Howard isn't the most talented keeper in the world, he was the best at the World Cup.

Neuer was a far superior goalie.

Ochoa made way more unbelievable saves.

Enyeama probably put on the best performance at the World Cup.

Sorry you're wrong,

As I said, Howard had the most saves in the Tournament despite not getting the 3 more games that Neuer and some others got.

Howard also had the most saves per game as well.

Enyema is your best example to best Howard. Neuer is fantastic but his defense in front of him was the biggest reason for their clean sheets. Howard was beastly in the tourney. A whole lot to do was made about Ochoa because of the Brazil match, but he only generated 2.5 saves per game. I'd argue Thibaut Courtois made as many spectacular saves and was called upon about as often as well. No one turned in a performance like TImmy did vs Belgium. And he was also fantastic in every other game as well.

Not all saves are alike and you know that.

While some aren't immensely tough, more than a few of them are world class saves. What's truly amazing about many of his saves was how perfect he handled his placement of his deflections several times a soft deflection had aplayer charging in, instead he had strong smart clearances and that's not an easy feat.

Missed it, but Sasha Kljestan is going to NYRB. Smart move, guy is an impressively solid player. Lacks top talent but constantly puts in quality performances. I want to know though, how he isn't a designated player like Curtis said, why woud he move to MLS and take a pay cut?

thethe of soccer

Oh so you lack factual evidence to back your claim and I'm the thethe? I bring the facts, you bring the "It's a gut thing" stuff. Howard was the best goalie in the world cup. Neuer won GG because he played more. If the US beat Belgium and then got into the semis Howard would have won them.

BTW as someone who's been following soccer for more than 4 years, I know that basically anyone who's won the Golden Glove (or Yashin Award) won the world cup. There's only one person I can think of who didn't win the WC but won GG and that was Oliver Kahn who was an absolute wrecking machine. Only player almost as buzzed about as Kahn was Landycakes.

Man, you guys sure do love me.

gilesfan likes to pretend he knows what he's talking about when he's just regurgitating **** he reads from some Tottenham boards/blogs as if they're fact. He's trying to imply I'm a homer when I'm bringing up facts. It would be like calling you a homer for saying Willis/Bowman were the best ILB tandem in 2013. Facts are facts whether they're about someone you support or not, and Howard was the best goalie at the tournament on a per game basis.

No one thinks Howard is a top goalie except US soccer fanboys.

Tim Cahill leaving NYRB for SHanghai

So does NYRB have any designated players now? Kind of a big rebuild they have going on.
