BTW, nothing as annoying as plastic Chelsea fan. Guy I work with is a plastic and tried to tell me that Man u/Chelsea is a big rivalry. I said the only reason it has any weight is because of CHelsea just becoming good. Man U has for sure 3 bigger rivalries, Leeds (history), Liverpool, and City. He just wants a rivalry cause Chelsea doesn't have a rivalry.

Arsenal/Tottenham, Liverpool/Everton, Man U/Man City. Maybe Chelsea can become rivals with Southampton.

What's funny was when he said something about showing a game with popular teams in America nad instantly mentioned Chelsea I told him to stop., because they were at best 4th most popular in the US behind United (arguably the biggest club in the world), Liverpool (more popular in old heads) and Arsenal.
 
OCFC opener drew 62K plus. Hope they keep drawing well. ANd Honestly, it's why I support a MLS without a cap and things like that. You should reward the good drawing teams like Seattle an dwho cares if the mediocre teams can't sit 20K a week.

15000 season ticket holders already for NYCFC. They opened up the 400 level of Yankee stadium for the opener as well.

Cool that new clubs are getting support, hopefulyl they'll keep the support. Bigger MLS gets, the better for the USMNT it is.
 
I watched all weekend. It was nice to see the support. The product in the Orlando/NY game was terrible, but that will improve over time.

Unfortunately for expansion franchises they often lack the quality second tier players. Those teams have very nice designated players (Diskerud, Villa, Lampard who of course isn't playing yet, and Kaka) but really only a few good non-designated players. Over time with drafts and FA they'll get better. When you look at squads like Seattle, obviously Dempsey, Martins, and Alonso are fantastic players. But they're helped massively by non-designated players like Marshall, Pineda, Frei, Neagle, Evans, Mears, etc. The stars are the ones who'll outclass your opponents, but you need to couple them with quality players alongside them. Dempsey and Martins up top are nothing if Seattle can't possess the ball and move it up to them. They'll both get better. Especially ifthey keep drawing. Seems like players go to teams that draw, probably because of better coverage. Easier to move along to a designated player or out of MLS.
 
Aside from Seattle on Sunday night, the quality was sloppy across the board (I didn't see the TFC game earlier in weekend). Nothing out of the ordinary for early season MLS games.

Jozy was a force, Bradley had a classic strong performance without any pizzazz, Giovinco was inspirational at times, forgotten at others. Their role players did very well as well. And this happened

Once I promised myself I'd behave in regards to USWNT, I consistently fail at that. Something about women playing soccer just gets me.

City losing to BUrnley all but seals Chelsea as the Victors, race for Europe is still very exciting, Arsenal and Man U are seemingly in the drivers seats for UCL and a tight race between Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton for Europa.
 
BTW 43,507 packed into Yankee Stadium.

Awesome opening for NYCFC. MLS Weekend 2 was a good one as well. Lots of upsets and goals.

And the finish to LA/Portland was a wowzer.
 
Nice turnout for Man City II, but jeez, soccer in a baseball stadium is ugly. Apparently the pitch dimensions just meet the minimum FIFA regulations, but to me the field looks almost comically small.

They certainly do. The longer they wait to get a dedicated stadium the worse it will be for them. Supposedly they're close to one adjacent to Yankee Stadium. THe Mets apparently put the kabosh in their original plan of opening one up in QUeens.
 
Looking at remainder of Schedule for 4 teams currently tightly locked into CHampions league battle.

Man U has to go to Anfield, hosts City, Go to Stamford Bridge, and host Arsenal. Those 4 games and their results should have the biggest effect on the table. If United can win say 2 of them with a draw and a loss it would fare very well for them. Rest of their games are all winnable

Liverpool host united, and go to Arsenal and Stamford Bridge. THey have an easier path than United. THough they have to end the season going to Stoke and that can easily be a no point affair.

City go to United, host Southampton and visit TOttenham. Even if they lose the derby, the rest of their Schedule should keep them in the UCL.

Arsenal host Liverpool, hosts Chelsea, and goes to Old Trafford. Not easy but doable.

Head to head matches will likely dictate who advances but looking at the schedule I'd put the likelyhood of advancing as

1. City

2. Arsenal

3. Liverpool

4. United

United has to beat Liverpool, Arsenal, and City, or get a good amount of help from around them.
