Game 3 vs pirates

Markakis is going to need to be replaced. either by Duvall or an external option. this is exactly what i was afraid of.

The worst part is the early hot streak, so Snit is going to be annoying about it and still play him a lot.
 
i understood and defended the lack of action by AA this offseason in most areas. not upgrading RF when there were options was easily the most egregious mistake.

When it's a rumor that you only had 10 million left, you couldn't afford anything in RF. I talked myself into Donaldson but in hindsight they couldn't afford him. They needed to probably go McCutchen/RP/still sign McCann.

well it's also a rumor they had a similar offer out to Brantley that he got from Houston, but he chose Houston. so i think there was money available not used.

They only had 10 million left. They would've had to move money around if he had signed. It was clear now in hindsight that signing Donaldson was a mistake.

meh. if they only have $10M left they wouldn't have offered that contract. Donaldson was/is fine IMO.
 
wonder what the BABIPs are for each team these last two games. seems like all of the hits are falling/finding holes for Pitt while rockets are being hit at all Pitt defenders.
 
Just saw this on Twitter: The Pirates have a team wRC+ of 90, and have scored 15 runs in 22 innings so far against Atlanta. And 9 of those innings were with their best hitter on the bench.

Folty has settled in nicely since the second. Let's hope the offense can start hitting a guy that's been downright awful for a while.
 
We REALLY need to find a way to pull this one out. We can't afford to play a red-hot Marlins team (weird to say) after back-to-back rough losses.
