Is the alternative then to simply wait this out and expect the fossil fuel industry to do the right thing---
Crude has been low for months
what is the right thing?

Apparently the “right thing” is cut their margins so that we maximize our consumption of fossil fuels.
Which I’m told is the leading contributor to man made global warming.
The threat of which I’m told is imminent.
I’m still not understanding why Biden isn’t selling the public on the benefits of higher fossil fuel prices…

Folks will have to go back to talking about CRT or maybe there will be some new shiny thang.
Yes, (D) will go back to telling us how we need drastic action on the imminent threat of climate change, hoping we forget that time the (D) POTUS called on Congress to enact a gas tax holiday and demanded to know why oil companies weren’t ramping up capacity. We’ll be expected to take their rhetoric seriously.
i mean, i don't see why you don't think both can be done
one should be done in the short term while working towards the long goal of future and getting off fossil fuels
i mean, its' not like we can just be done with it tomorrow

Because high prices are themselves the best driver of a transition to a substitute. If climate change is a imminent existential threat, taking action to curb that rise in price is antithetical to the cause.
WTI drops below $100 per barrel. Massive decline in wholesale gasoline prices.
Baker Hughes data show 750 domestic oil rigs in operation, up from 475 a year ago. Drill baby drill.

One way to decrease gas prices in the short term is for businesses that have foolishly gone back to the office to return to remote work. Billions of gallons are wasted annually on unnecessary commutes.
One of Biden's dumbest and most hypocritical statements was his lobbying for businesses to go back to their offices in large cities. It not only increases energy prices, it also is bad for the environment.

Thank God you don't run my company. Working remote is trash. I like the company of fellow workers
Best thing to happen to me in my adult life, outside of marriage and the birth of my kids, is the option to work remote.
