Gay Marriage - blacks perspective

No, but they do 1 every 94 seconds or so. That's a lot of poor black, white and hispanic babies. Last numbers I saw were about 1/3 of a million a year.

Clean. Gotta be clean.

You and I will never agree on this so there isn't too much point in arguing too much.

I'll leave with this

"Three percent of all Planned Parenthood health services are abortion services."

I'm not wild about that either, or the Revolutionary War for that matter.

That aside, it seems my pointing out the obvious vileness of Sanger, her eugenics and the origin of Planned Parenthood bothers you. Why? Do you like Sanger or something? Or maybe you don't like someone describing the less than admirable aspects of the history of something you like. Is that it?

I dunno, man. That's a pretty big can of worms to open. A lot of major institutions in the South, particularly religious ones, have their roots in schisms over slavery.

Planned Parenthood skews their numbers in the way they bundle visits/per service. The number is more like 12%. But the actual number of abortions per year is usually around 300,000+. Like I said a lot of babies. And whether you want to cloak it in something respectful, they target poor minority communities.

Even if I were pro-abortion, I wouldn't defend them.

Sadly you are right. It's nothing to defend, so I really don't get wanting to defend Sanger and PP.

The older I get the more grateful I am of the anti-slavery aspects of my particular branch of "Christendom" and the more regretful for the compromises and involvement of other aspects of my tradition. I also am becoming more aware of the privilege I have enjoyed/enjoy because of my skin color.

So you want more people who can't afford to have more babies to have more babies? I guess you also want to cut welfare and them to front their hospital bills and so on so forth. I don't view abortion as an abhoration that you do. We don't agree on the same thing.

No, I don't Zito. But I also don't want millions of babies slaughtered. And I want all the poor and needy to be cared for as best as we can care for them and not hurt them in the process.

Sanger is a mixed bag, sure. She was a crusader for womens' agency over their bodies and their sexuality, and I think there is a lot to admire there. Her support for eugenics and her early racial theories are abhorrent.

I understand where you're coming from about PP. We may not agree, but I respect your opinion. And I appreciate, and relate to, the bolded portion.

Thanks Julio. And I appreciate your acknowledgment of Sanger's problems. I wish we all could be a little more critical of our "team" and the skeletons in the closet.

The problem is that they will be hurt.

I am much more callous and less of an idealist than you. There is statistical correlation (and I know correlation doesn't equal causation) but if you remember that statistically the majority if not nearly the entirety of abortions are unwanted pregnancies for either financial reasons or other reasons (rape, incest, etc.) and we know that based on studies children that grow up unwanted are more likely to wind up involved with crime.

I could be calloused and just say that's a fancy way of saying, let's abort as many poor darker-skinned and poor redneck kids as we can... Gussy it up if you'd like.

Clean is the word.

I think people should be allowed to not have Children if they don't want it how they choose. If they choose abortion in the first 20 weeks then they should, if they choose adoption then they should, but that's just me. I don't care about their skin color, I don't care about their economic background, I think everyone should have that option personally.

Oh, and 57, the reason why there are so many African Americans that populate the lower class strata is in great part because of our heinous history of slavery, failed opportunities after the Civil War, segregation and racism.

I brought up PP in the context of providing birth control options to poor people. I won't pretend to know your stance on bc.
Right To Life graphic language and judgmental stances strike me as fanatical. At which point I wonder --- who are the good guys and who are the bad .

I respect your opinion as far as you personally are concerned -- I mean you, as it pertains to your body -- your pregnancy.

As a member(s) of the male gender there is no way I (we) can possibly know to pass judgement on another human that wants to end a pregnancy. Whatever the reason.

Pass judgment -pretty heavy term

Living as I do in a place where lots of folks self-identify as Tea Party supporters, I'd say that a VERY sunny assessment.

Nikki Haley is my governor. I think she's a smart and capable person and politician, though I abhor her politics. She lost me when she made the drug-testing of unemployment recipients a thing, told a whopper of lie about it, then refused to be accountable when called on it. There's no way she gets elected in SC if she's on the ballot as "Nimrata Haley."

I've got nothing particularly bad to say about Tim Scott. I'm not going to vote for the guy, but he hasn't shown his ass in any particularly meaningful way at this point. Better him than DeMint, I suppose.

Julio, you do have to admit that Haley's done good for our economy. Lots of jobs coming into the state

I try to say this respectfully, but could it be that I'm not the fanatic but you are? Could it be that you are actually calling evil good and good evil. Could it be 57, that you are judging - doing the very thing you say shouldn't be done? Do you ever wonder if not speaking for the most vulnerable is what's wrong and not speaking up for them? That defending the targeting of minorities and the poor is wrongheaded?

I am quite cognizant that my view is becoming or even is an aberrant morality. That I am the "bad guy."

SC is always a contender in any race to the bottom.

Seriously, I'm not sure how much she's personally had to do with it, but she's had some wins on that score. Unemployment has certainly fallen. I don't know that, say, Vince Sheheen would have done any differently, though, or how much it's had to do with timing. I think she's ok, really.

No I thought he said a few years ago he was going to the white sox braves game. Then he and AA seemed to know a lot about Chicago.
