GDT: 07/20/2013: Braves at White Sox

I think it will be Beachy if Maholm has to go on the DL. I like Wood a lot, and wouldn't be surprised if he were in the rotation by the end of the year. But I think he would benefit from a few more starts in Gwinnett.

I've seen him pitch and I'd disagree. He hasn't been terrible lately but he hasn't looked good either. He has a 5.40 ERA vs lefties and they're hitting .333 against him. We need a lefty that can get lefties out.

I could see replacing both Maholm and Medlen at some point (Wood for Maholm and Beachy for Medlen).

Wood is ready now, Beachy may need another start or two.
 
I'd be patient with Medlen. He didn't have a good first half, but he's got a lot of talent. But yeah, if after four or so more starts he is still struggling and Wood is doing well in Gwinnett, I'd be open to moving Medlen to the pen and Wood to the rotation.

Well, I am going off the talk about Wood replacing Medlen in rotation. If true then we could see both he and Beachy in rotation soon (now that Maholm is DL bound).
 
pretty sure they want Beachy to get one more rehab start. Spot start Wood, see how he does, then insert Beachy. If Wood's able, you might be able to move Medlejn temporarily to the bullpen, Julio's probably skipping some start in Aug due to innings.

But none of this matters re Maholm; he needs to leave the rotation. DL, or bullpen if he's not DL'd.

It was never going to last, probably won't with Carpenter either. But we should be okay if we trade for relief help and replace other weak spots from within (Obispo is an option, Medlen if moved to bullpen, Hale, etc).
 
Hopefully getting embarrassed today fires us up to blow them out tomorrow. We cannot lose the series to this very bad team.

Biggest thing that sucks is wasting a 4-0 lead.

If he got rocked from the start it would be alright but oh well, win some, lose some.

I didnt wanna say it but I had a bad feeling about this series before it started.

We always struggle at Chw, for whatever reason.
 
I know we are not going to get another SP but I want too.

I think Terdo is more thought of in baseball circles then most believe. The kid can hit and play a decent 1b.
