GDT: (08/14/14) Dodgers (Hernandez) @ Braves (Harang) Early Game!

We should have won this game. If not for Avilan, Heyward is probably sent there and ties the game.

I can't believe Freeman's ball didn't go out. The baseball gods hate us.

I swear every time a break has been handed out this year it has gone against the Braves. Of course it doesn't help to have a manager who burns a reliever to just pitch to the opposing pitcher. Compared to the Dodgers we might as well be a little league team minus the mercy rule. So is this what we have to look forward to for the rest of the year ? I have not been so disheartened with this team since Wohlers gave up the homer to Leyritz

I'm afraid we will need to keep losing a while and miss the playoffs for that to be considered. I wouldn't even be surprised if Wren goes before Fredi, though I'd argue Fredi is hurting us more and should've been fired after the collapse.

The Braves now have 60 losses, they lost 66 all of last year, and they just did the damn near impossible, faced the Dodgers in a 4-game series without Greinke and Kershaw and lost three out of the four games. Unbelieveable.

I'm starting to think (with September looming) that we'll finish below 80 wins.

All I know is we had better see wholesale changes on our coaching staff next year outside of McDowell . I've defended Wren up until this point, but he put together this offense... Who would replace him if he got fired ? Maybe it would have been better to be sellers and restocked our farm somewhat....

Tv the braves are 3-12 in their last 15 games. I'm beginning to think it does not matter what we do we pitch well we can't score .. We score and the pitchers can't stop the other team from scoring ... This team really looks lost ...

Yeah but we can all take solace in the fact that we faced Cy Young candidate Kevin Correa and what's his name, he's so great that he has to change him name Roberto Hernandez, Fausto Carmona, Roberto Carmona, Fausto Hernandez. I was expecting to see him late in the game with some nasty splitters, instead of just saw a lot of sinkers, I mean I was like "Who in the hell is this guy!" and I'm sure the Braves felt the same way.

There's still time to sell.

At this point what's the harm in selling Santana, Harang (if anyone wants him, which is doubtful), or any other short-timer for whatever we can get for them?

I wouldn't do anything drastic like trading one of the position players not named B.J. until the off-season, but why not at least gauge the market on the two pitchers mentioned above?

I would deal Santana no doubt. .500 is going to be a reach. Might even be willing to deal Justin and Gattis if the haul back was right.

We better be talking a serious haul, particularly for Justin. I would not trade our first or second best hitter, depending on how you look at it.

If we haven't made up ground or have lost ground by the time we get through next weekend, I would heavily market Santana and even see if anyone wants to kick tires on Aaron Merengue.

I am on board if we have to give Gattis away if someone takes BJ's contract. I can't stand him and his attitudes at the plate when a call goes against him.

Dude, quit your fcking yapping as you have not one ounce of respect from any one in the league with your Mendoza line hitting ass.

You geniuses realize that Santana and Harang (or anyone) would have to first pass through waivers in order to be traded? Chances are neither of them would make it through and the Braves would be stuck dealing with only the team that claimed them, and thus losing almost all leverage. In the case of someone like Gattis, who would be claimed by even the worst teams, nobody with a poor enough record to win the claim on a player like Gattis would be willing/able to take on BJ's contract.

But I'm sure such astute baseball minds already knew about those minor complications.

OK, smartass. So tell me how big deals have often happened in August. You can't assume things. It's not likely, but you at least try and see if something happens.

Then they revoke the player(s) that were on waivers. No harm no foul.

We're a really, really bad baseball team being run by an even worse manager. Good/playoff baseball teams don't lose 3 out of 4 at home to the Dodgers if the miraculously miss Kershaw and Greinke. It really is that simple. We suck.

We weren't a bad baseball team before this month. We're just in a major funk right now. We'll get out of it, but it may be too little too late by the time that happens.
