The thing with Duvall in 2021 is he just so happened to put up a 1.100 OPS with men in scoring position, and a 1.000 OPS in high leverage spots. This is compared to a .585 value with the bases empty and a .686 value in low leverage spots.
Now make no mistake, those things really happened, and they really helped the Braves win games. Unfortunately for the playoff lineup construction, all those big hits have tricked some into thinking Duvall is some sort of run producing machine. Folks conveniently forget he rarely gets on base to help allow other teammates to drive in runs, which is the other half of the offensive puzzle.
The narrative is what it is at this point, and Snit is fully on board. All we can do now is hope he has a big swing in a big spot and changes a game for the Braves…or that the rest of the team takes care of business and his .280 OBP doesn’t hurt the team too badly.
