GDT 10/7/23: Braves vs Philthies - NLDS Game 1

5 game series in baseball are just dumb period. If it’s only going to be 5 games then make the wild card team play all 5 away
 
We are overdue to make Wheeler our bitch and we’ve made Nola our bitch before. We can do this. We need Fried and Elder/AJSS to man up…
 
We always seem to do better against better pitchers. It’s the 4 & 5 starters we always have problems with it seems like.

Yeah the Phillies top 3 usually seem to have our number though. Still… I think that embarrassing start kicks our guys asses into gear. We got this
 
Don't love the implied panicking from the Braves right now. Changing line-up game one, then again game two. Harris hits 6th vs. a lefty but 9th vs. a righty? Albies 5th vs lefty but second vs. righty? We either panicked for game one or panicked for game two. I personally think the line-up change was over blown and we are almost playing into mental games now

The only one panicking is the fans. That lineup was the optimal lineup vs a lefty. Made complete sense. Now we’re back to the normal lineup vs a RHP.
 
It bothers me when they show the Braves dugout and the team is sitting around spread out looking bored like it’s a day game in July. Meanwhile the other team is on the top step actively engaged.

In 2021 the Braves were the engaged team. The last 2 years they’ve been the team sleepwalking.

I don't think the Braves as a team or franchise are panicking at all. I think this is all perpetuated by fans.

They went back to the old lineup as a knee jerk reaction to being shut out last game. The previous lineup was perfect because it protected against the LHPs in the Phils BP. This lineup allows them to use a single LHP vs both Rosario and Harris with the only penalty being Arcia in the middle.

We will see the Phils BP neuter the bottom half of the lineup multiple times, and once again the talent in this roster has to overcome inferior tactical management.

Good point. Hadn’t realized Harris was back to hitting 9th. Pathetic.

The Braves really just aren’t as smart as they think they are.
