GDT 11/2/21: Braves @ Astros - World Series Game 6

List is long. Go to Braves Stats 2021, anyone who made an appearance in a game gets a ring. Even Jeff Mathis and kevan smith.

That is tradition but after thinking I guess it is up to front office/ownership.

Gotta be Shane Greene and Jesse Biddle.

Being serious for five seconds, I think Edgar Santana should have gotten one (and maybe will), but it looks like he was released late in October. Missed that one. Looking it up, I guess he was released so that Davidson could come off the 60-day DL. I was a big-time Santana skeptic when he was signed, but he did alright for us.

Does Inciarte get a ring ?!?

Of all the non-Acuña guys that weren't on the roster to end the season, or throughout the playoffs, he's the one that deserves it the most. Big mood guy for the last of the rebuild years, who still remained professional even though the team's improvements coincided with his decline. And he's been vocal ever since being released about how much he's still pulling for the guys.

Acuña deserves one, obviously, because the Braves probably don't win the division without his MVP first half.

I was looking back through old posts I had made on this board. One was about a game against the Brewers, 5/21/2015. The Brewers had a pitcher ejected for having a foreign substance on his arm. The pitcher? Will Smith.

I remember the game. Fredi G. called him out and Smith was none too happy. I'm surprised no one really brought it up when Smith signed with the Braves because it was a pretty heated event.

Here's a story from the Brewers' angle: https://www.brewcrewball.com/2015/5/21/8641983/will-smith-ejected-substance-sunscreen

Brewers got their revenge by beating the Braves 11-0 the following day.

It's getting to be a situation with Freddie that not re-signing him will be such a PR disaster that there's no way it doesn't happen.

Will Soroka get a ring? He didn't pitch for the Braves this year. But has been in the dugout for the post season and also at the world series celebrations

I agree, BUT. Seems like Freddie his agent understand this and are correctly putting pressure on the front office to squeeze more out of them.

100%. So happy for Ender actually. I hope we haven’t seen the last of him tbh, but probably so.

The ownership can give rings to anyone they want. The tradition is anyone who played a pitch during the year, even if traded away would get one, but they don’t have to give them one. Some teams have rights to full time stadium staff, security, the cigarette butt cleanup dude, some are picky who they gave them too. When I worked in the NHL (part time as an equipment manager running the victory’s locker room) even I got a ring. So, it’s really up to how much they want to spend, but there is no hard and fast rule.

Soroka was on the stage today as they were celebrating at Truist. So I have to imagine that yes he will get a ring.

I think he will since he was with the big league team and went on the DL in Spring Training (and then again during rehab). Acuna for sure will. Braves didn't have to bring them with them in the postseason, but I remember reading that Snitker purposely made sure to include them because he wanted them to experience it. The team could've help them rehabbing at home but wanted them to be a part of it
