So how many people died by police in BLM riots last summer? Was it more than 0?
Yes.
And we're not comparing protests and riots to insurrection. Doing so is a moronic false equivalency.
Go **** yourself.

Why are so many people so quick to start comparing what happened yesterday to BLM?
So how many people died by police in BLM riots last summer? Was it more than 0?
Because police over reacted to one and underreacted to another. One was protests that got out of hand. The other was an attempted insurrection with no direction.

.
There are a few posters on this board - including myself - who have condemned both. And condemned both at the time they happened.
The problem is the double standards some people and our media have depending on the cause they support.
That dude sitting at Pelosi's desk wasn't trying to overthrow the government. And the stolen lectern isn't vital to democracy. I disagree with calling it attempted insurrection.

While there is/has been a double standard in how police have generally responded to the different groups, I don't think immediately after such an event is the time to be focusing on that. Mr. Biden is about to take over a fractured nation. I'd rather not continue to divide by focusing on the differences.

just cause because maga people are stupid as **** with no real plan
doesn't mean the definition doesn't fit
Jaw is nowhere near on the level of willful obtuseness as sturg and thethe.
thethe is in a class of his own. sturg is right below.
There's a good argument that the riot last year amounted to an insurrection. I've read several legal definitions of insurrections and the common theme is that it's a concerted effort to try to, through violence, deny the government's ability to exercise its lawful authority. Under this definition, what we saw last summer was a lot of insurrections. We had police precincts burned, cop cars destroyed, police were denied access to areas, there were even "autonomous zones" set up.
So I don't think using the term insurrection on both is out of line.
