GDT #113 8/5: Braves (Wood) at Mariners (F. Hernandez)

King Felix would average 20 wins on a better team

Still blows my mind he chose not to sign with us because he thought our roster was stacked with starting pitching and that he wouldn't be able to get a chance...

I think this was when we had Maddux-Glavine-Millwood-Moss-Marquis.

I thought he signed with the Mariners despite the braves offering more money because Freddy Garcia was his idol.

He knew caring about baseball is not something the Braves want.

This could be the night. The lazy, pro-forma beat writer story kinda writes itself: the young braves team, having lost so much veteran leadership, has their backs to the wall, facing Felix Hernandez after a six-game skid. An improbable win starts a run of improved play. New young leaders emerge. Grit is exhibited. The third-best manager in the league is applauded for his cool hand and steady head. The division-winning run starts NOW.

Or, you know, maybe tomorrow.

A HIT! WITH RISP!

You shall know his name is the LORD, when he lays his BABIP upon you.

As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a remote place, and it’s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.”

Lord BABIP replied, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

“We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.

“Bring them here to me,” he said. "I shall feed them fish dicks!"
