I don't love Harang, but I loved the move a lot. I knew he was a lot better than Garcia. He will obviously regress, but I would be shocked if he finished the year with an ERA above 4
 
Fredi saying exactly what we were telling him after the 6th lol.

And not one reporter asking him why he didn't pinch hit when it was still a 1-run game late and we needed insurance.

I'm just enjoying it. The way I see it is every game counts - harang is no doubt a fill in but every marginal game we win from him is bonus value to me. We need 35 starts out of that spot in the rotation and we are 3-1 in games started by him. Survive and advance is how I see it. Once he tails off Floyd comes in.

Agreed. There was an article before the season noting how great the pitchers ERA was last year in his starts at catcher. So far it's even better this year too.
 
Regards to Harang, i was neutral.

Didnt hate it, didnt love it.

But some people act like it was the worst move ever, not calling anyone out.

Interesting story, I could NEVER hit him in MVP Baseball 2005. I couldn't stand that SMUG look on his face when the game started and I knew I'd lose.
 
My thing was it was a 1-run game at the time, and he was at 6 walks and really laboring. If we had gone up 6-0 in the 7th, I would have been perfectly fine sticking with him. Pitch-count limit wise, I think Fredi got it right.
 
I, too, hated the Harang signing. But I have learned to shut up and not compound my lack of understanding by trying to defend it. Frank Wren knows more than me; I kneel and bow to his decision making.

Thing is who do you pull? Julio? Wood? Santana? Personally I'd keep Floyd down a little longer and make sure he's 100% warmed up and good to go. Harang being on fire lets us take Floyd slowly. Maybe some team though will be super desperate for a pitcher and will swap us a BP arm for Harang.

I don't know what Fredi is going to do. But how do you take him out of the rotation? It's a cliche but it's a nice problem to have.
