Looks like I'm now in second place in the Largest Head Contest.
I'm not that huge a Varvaro fan, but he seems to be this year's red-headed stepchild. It's unlikely he'll see any high leverage situations and I agree that if we need another arm for those instances, it's probably not him. But he's the 12th guy. I'd hardly say he's struggling since he hasn't given up a hit in his four appearances. That said, one of his four outings was very messy (surrendered a run without allowing a hit) and those types of performances seem to stick with people. He's a limited option who is going to pitch twice a week at most. Again, if more is needed from the 12th guy, they'll have to find someone else, but that need is going to be generated by the guys currently used in high leverage situations (Carpenter, Avilan) not getting the job done.
