GDT 2/25 Braves at Nats

Man Scherzer is good. It’s easy to lose perspective when all you see is the garbage the Braves have ran out there the last few years.

Watching the playoffs after watching the Braves all season was like watching a completely different game.

I hate seeing someone go up 0-2 on a hitter and throw garbage trying to get them to chase and ultimately walking the guy. Seems to happen a lot with this pitching coach.

I think Sims is throwing the 2 seamer and the 4 seamer at 90-91 and 93-94 respectively.

Keeping my eyes peeled for that change. Curve looks decent.

He looks rusty overall. Walk to MAdams.

Got Kendrick to pop up the curve.

4 seamer down the middle hammered by Weiters.

4 seamer blooped for a hit by Taylor.

Ground ball single up the middle scores 2.

yeah, the only hard hit was Matt.. but the walk can't happen. no way do you get up 0-2 and throw non competitive pitches hoping and praying.

Acuna taps out on another breaking ball away after seeing 2 fastballs up.

This is precisely the type of sequencing I predicted he is going to struggle with early. Getting exposed to it in ST is going to be helpful.

Sims hangs a change to Harper, who flips it down the LF line, and DPete makes a diving catch on the line.

Just because he dove doesn’t make it a great play, but it looked cool!

Sims hung another change to Rendon that was luckily hammered foul. He doesn’t have the feel for it yet in early spring to keep it down.

Sims line was ugly, but he looked decent. Rusty, specifically with the change and 2 seamer, but decent.

So far I like him as the long man out of the BP, and I think he is much better than the terrible stats he posted last year.

Tucker hammers a piped fastball for a double.

Riley is not squaring up very hittable fastballs. Ends up striking out looking again.
