GDT 3/30/26: Braves vs A’s - Good Elder or Bad Elder

Olson too. I know the A's and Royals aren't supposed to be world beaters but I feel like the team is fortunate to be 3-1 while Riley, Olson, and Acuna have kinda sucked.
Royals should be pretty good again, or at least decent. A’s have a good lineup.

That’s the beauty of it- when three of your best bats aren’t contributing too much - but still some I’ll point out- it’s ok as long as your other six are - and our other six certainly are. Especially Dubon and MH2 and Ozzie….and the backup catcher…. This offense should be similar to a coupla’ years ago and lead the league in run production- assuming health and Kim and Murph ….

What point is that? That you need 7 or 8 starters to last the season? The Braves have that. It just looks bad when 3 of your starting 5 are down in ST.
But those injuries happened well before the season when there were still options available to keep from having Elder as your 4th starter for a significant period of time or worse. So, yeah, it does look worse because it shouldn’t have been allowed to happen.

So you want to spent 7 million on Soroka? 18 million on 37 year old Bassit who got his tits ripped? These guys aren't signifigantly better than Elder when he's making 500K.

The best playoff teams are the ones without depth. Thats why wild card teams do so well in the playoffs. I would love to hear about all this depth other teams have. Other than the Dodgers no one is 10 plus deep in quality SP.

What do the playoffs have that we dont have for 2 weeks? Off days. Thus relievers can pitch every game and you only need 3 SP.

Don't give me PTSD remembering Snit's bullpen management in the 2023 NLDS. Where we had almost a full week off between 162 and G1. Then off days between G1 and G2, and another between G2 and G3. And he still was throwing out Tonkin and bottom of the bullpen in high leverage early in the game.

I specifically remember him saying in May that year "If I use all my top guys to win games now in May they won't be available in October".

Then proceeds to leave his top guys in the pen.

Don't like the white script against the road blue. Like the idea of honoring the era but to wear the road blues at home misses the mark for me. Wish they would have just reproduced the home jersey of the era.

That doesn’t mean having no depth makes you a better playoff team. That’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard.

Also, the last couple of years the World Series has been represented exclusively by teams with a bye.

Don’t get my blood pressure going. And he did the exact same thing the year before with Strider. More than any personnel decision he made, letting that buffoon make decisions like that in the playoffs is deserving of getting AA fired in my book.
