GDT #32: Cardinals @ Braves (May 6, 2014)

Idiotic. Instead of Pinch hitting he tries a squeeze. And Schafer and Pena both available, I think they can bunt. (leap of faith to think anyone on this team can bunt)

Schafer and Pena have both failed at bunting this season...

Laird has actually been an OK bunter with us.

He was terrible for half the year in 2011.
He was bad first half 2012, terrible 2nd half.
Terrible last year.
He put up an OPS of over .750 ONE HALF since 2011.
All of this combined with terrible defense makes a bad player. A .720 OPS from a terrible defender at 2B makes for a horrible player.

That's on Wren for not finding some other solution then right?

If he can't get up there for one at bat and catch one inning, we can forget relying on him. It was a completely idiotic decision. But whatever. Let's go Kimbrel.

I'm ok with Gattis starting 4/5 games.

No need to be pissed because the kid needs a day off. He already historically has bad knees.

It's what you do on the whole season that matters. Again, you're taking an agreement and turning it into an argument.

Welp, bout freaking time. They owe us about two weeks of winning. Hope this fuels one. No more mothereffin squeeze plays until a bunting instructor is hired.

The contract is on Wren, makes it hard to find a replacement. No doubt.
But at this point La Stella and Pastor are better options for the simple fact that, even if they don't hit, they aren't inept defensively and fundamentally like Uggla.

What's it called when you've scored more runs than the other team when you are done playing? I seem to have forgotten what that phenomenon is called.
