GDT #33: May 7, 2014, Cardinals (Wainwright) @ Braves (Minor) 7:10 PM EST

All you can do is laugh..this team is an effing joke. What do people expect our pitchers go to the mound every night thinking they have to pitch a shutout, the ammount of pressure on our starting staff is crazy. Unfortunately I do not see anything changing anytime soon.

Other than Uggla and CJ, most of our hitters have hit as expected.

Uggla is the clear black hole, and once the 2B situation resolves itself it will give Fredi a chance to use a consistent lineup whether that's LaStella, Pastor, or a trade. It won't be Pena because his defense is lol and he's not really that much of a hitter.

What makes the team in April the real team?

Same lineup from last year minus McCann.

BJ is performing better than last year, Uggla is on the verge of being gone for good.

BABIP won't come close to his season last year, Simmons is going to be Simmons.

Heyward has been better (outside of tonight), Justin looks like he might show up in May this year, Freddie has not been that lucky with hard hit balls, Gattis could be moved down in the order.

I just think it's crazy to think we're going to average 1 run a game the rest of the season. We're going to score whether it's everybody homering or Justin or Freddie carrying us, and maybe even Heyward.

The team has 2.5 good hitters. The rest could all have OBP of .310 or lower.

I honestly think a good long road trip will do this team well. Get the Cubs in here tomorrow night, put their dicks in the dirt, and hit the road. We will be just fine.

How many good hitters do the Nationals have?

I agree with Keith for the most part, I still think this team is the best team in the NL East. The Marlins are good but they will come back down to earth and I'm not impressed by the Nationals at all. If the Braves can start hitting they will be fine, but it's just frustrating as hell to watch right now, because they're not doing anything to make adjustments.

Until Chip just mentioned it, I forgot that after this weekend, we go to San Francisco and St. Louis. This team better figure it the hell out soon, or we're going to have an historically bad May.

"What a weird night for the Braves! They have 5 hits and all are doubles!" - Chip

If there's someone who knows about doubles, it's Chip. :snort:

What Gattis just did there, in a nutshell, is what's wrong with this team right now. We've gotten some good swings tonight, but still can't put together a big inning.

Gattis reassuring everyone he doesn't wanna be the cleanup man anymore.

I say f it and put Bossman at cleanup. He can't be any worse than the other options we have ATM. Simmons is a double play candidate, CJ is just going to punch a single...
