GDT: 4/12 Marlins @ Braves

We cut Duvall to save money. He basically confirmed it, saying he wanted to come back.

I understand we are in a cash crunch but pinky pinching on bullpen and depth could cause us to not be successful when we have all of the difficult to obtain pieces.

100%. But, when you have already signed Smith and that was pre-pandemic budget crunch...

I think Smyly is going to end up more good than bad, and I think the rotation definitely needed the depth he gives. I have no qualms about the Smyly signing—the biggest quibble is maybe he could been had for $1-2m less.

On the other hand, I think you should pretty much never pay more than $10m per annum for a reliever, so for me that deal was always a stinker, irrespective of how well Smith performed (and, unfortunately, he has not really performed well).

If Smyly pitches a little better and Soroka gets healthy maybe we could move him and get what we need. Someone always needs starting pitching.

I kind of miss not hearing dumbasses in the crowd shrieking constantly in the last three innings after their phones die
