GDT 4/14: Teheran duels fellow ace deGrom

Acuna’s patience is probably what is most impressive to me. At his age and being able to lay off pitches and work the count is why I think he’ll be a monster for a really long time.

This level of patience at his age is truly rare. I'm getting young bonds vibes from him.

Need some butts in seats behind home plate. Bad look

I understand it’s a school night but move people from other sections to behind home plate at least. I’ve been at a high school basketball All-Star game and they moved people from the upper deck to behind the goals in the lower deck for tv.

Despite what 50 asserts, Venters is coming off a good season and won comeback player of the year in doing so. A slow start shouldn't get him released this early, if anything you DL him and see how he does after a rehab in AAA. Or just use him sparingly vs a lefty here and there like TB did at one point last year hoping he gets going again.

This kinda gets me. I'm not the most stat-inclined, but the only thing keeping Venters in the big leagues right now is the success he had in the early-2010s as a key part of an awesome 7-8-9 trifecta. He's not getting LHH out (and yes, it's a small sample size) and that's his only value at this point in his career. He no longer sports a high K-rate and his BB-rate (from 2018) basically sits around his career average. So DL him for those who are faint of heart, but I'm not counting on him at all (and didn't coming into the season).

He is a lefty specialist at this point as his numbers last year with us showed. But he still held lefties to a 1.69 ERA and .111 batting average with us last year. Batters only hit .208 on the season against him last year too. So nothing you assert citing his small sample thus far proves any of that has changed. Time will tell if it has or not.

there is just so much behind those seats in the club areas, it makes people want to stay there instead of being in the seat a lot of the times

times i have been down there, it happened from time to time.

go get a plate of some catered food and get a drink and then go grab something else etc and you haven't been in your seat for 2 innings and what not

A-Rod talking about the Mets "grinders", guys who "drive Dodge and Ford pickup trucks", proceeds to name Nimmo, McNeil, Alonso.

Really high baseball IQ on those guys, real gym rats, great hustle, lunch pail kind of guys.

Absolutely. They’re extremely hard workers and play the game the right way. Players like Keon Broxton and Dominic Smith could learn a thing or two from them.

Is it absolutely crazy to think that Acuna could be better than Trout?

Was SJ right all along?

So many good things offensively during the first 15 games of the year but probably my favorite is to imagine Albies as a speedy leadoff guy with pop that gets on base at a 40% clip and of course plays fantastic defense. Better version of Furcal.
