GDT 4-17 The Easter Bunny is Named Bryce Elder

The Rosario slander seems a little aggressive to me. No denying he's been absolutely horrific so far, but I'm not sure anyone expects him to be NLCS Eddie Rosario ever again. If he's just the .790-830 OPS guy he's been his whole career prior to 2021 he'll be fine. I don't buy that he's suddenly a .600 OPS guy, much less a sub .200 OPS guy as he's been so far.

I'm pretty aggressive... my bb rate is very low. I figure he and dansby will turn it on this series. Usually after I completely lose it, players seem to get going making sure I look even more dumb. I'll gladly take it.

Oh I wasn't worried about your slander in particular- I know if Rosario goes 4-4 with a HR tonight in a win you'll be talking about him as an early season dark horse MVP candidate. The ultimate 'what have you done for me lately' fan and I love it.

I wonder how long they will stick with the 6 man rotation? Elder and Ynoa back to back seems bad. But taking one of them out of the rotation makes it look better on paper. Fried, Morton, Anderson, Wright (new and improved), Ynoa/Elder isn't horrible.

If those can be serviceable as 5 that is one thing... but Fried hasn't looked great yet, Morton has struggled at times, I'm far from confident that Anderson is actually a good 3 and let's just hope Wright is for real. Quite a few question marks.

Also, the point is if we have any major injuries... our depth is shaky at best. None of our "next man up" guys have shown really anything at all with the exception of a Touki start here and there. Davidson has been bad... Muller bad... hopefully they show growth this year but its not guaranteed.

I think we have next to zero off days during April. It’s probably another week or so. That said, elder has kept us in every single game so far. Not sure why he’s included here

Because his statcast/expected numbers basically say he should have been the worst starter in the rotation thus far. He's been extremely lucky.

Morton got blown up against the Padres but I doubt that happens too often. Fried's 2 games he's had a 1.60 and 2.39 FIP in each. He's fine and I expect him to keep bring ace performances all year. I really have no worries about either or those. Ian and Kyle...yeah it's questionable just how good they can be. But I feel this is what we are rolling with until the deadline at least.

I can totally see the Braves trading for a starter and signing Conforto by the deadline.

Every starter but Anderson and Elder have positive fWAR (and Anderson is at 0.0), so the underlying stats have been ok for them, as a group (and I'm including Strider in this set).

But I certainly would not have bet that Wright would lead the team, at 0.6 fWAR in two starts. I definitely hope (a) he keeps it up, and (b) our season doesn't depend on him keeping it up.

Any chance soroka can be that starter?

If we see Soroka this year, I would be shocked. I might even say if we ever see Soroka agian, I would be shocked, but then I want to believe in the kid.

Radio said the other day that soroka was tossing. No idea what "tossing" is, but it seemed like good news to me

I still like our rotation... my main point is if we have any health problems, depth is a major issue

I'm only worried about Morton because he's getting pretty old. He's got to start regressing at some point. I'm not too worried about Fried, but I do worry about his blister and pitch tipping issues he's had in the past.

I personally think we need Strider in the rotation until he proves he can't do it.

The problem with Strider in the rotation is not Strider. The problem is Snit won't be able to pull him at the right time, and all the benefits of using Strider will be pissed away in the 5th inning when he loses effectiveness. He is quite possibly the most impactful arm the Braves have called up since...Soroka?

Anderson was after soroka wasn't he?

I kinda like what they have done with him so far.

The only other tweak I could see would be the opener scenario for him. Maybe piggyback he and tucker and try to get 7-8 out of them on a night the pens overworked.

Arcia
Heredia
Swanson

Bottom of the lineup tonight.

It gets better when you add their positions.

Arcia LF
Heredia RF
Swanson SS

Yup, those are the bats of a backup SS and a backup CF starting in the cOF spots.

Against the Dodgers.

For a team defending the WS title.

Hurray!
