GDT 4/7/24: Braves vs D-Backs - Feeling Sweepy

Sale gave up a single and threw a wild pitch. Time for Snit to declare a State of Emergency.

There you go again, failing to read what I wrote.

Did I call for him to take action? Or did I call for him to wake up in case there was a need to take action? Do we understand the difference?

This is exactly like explaining things to my 7 year old.

Oh, I'm agreeing with you. Thankfully they called him back from the hot dog line in time to bring the infield in there.

Are we seriously worried about Ronald Acuna Jr after a bit of a slow start in the first week and a half of the season?

Its not just the slow start. The high K rate and lack of hitting the ball in the air. If he wasnt a strikeout and groundball machine I wouldnt be so worried. He was super consistent last year before the playoffs. I am sure he will right the ship at some point but I worry about the health of his knee and how that effects his performance.

Ok snit, now that you’re hopefully awake and read the comics of your newspaper, it’s time to start thinking. Sale is at 90 pitches and about to face a string of RHHs for the 3rd time. You may want to have a RHP ready in the BP so you aren’t caught off guard in a 1 run game.

There is no need to take offense to me poking fun at Snit. Is he your uncle or something?

Who’s whining again?

I take offense to complaints that are unreasonable. Every teams fanbase thinks their manager is an idiot who is holding the team back. I am sure a few are happy but its only a matter of time before they turn on their manager. I dont know if you were complaining Snit didnt do something then or just pre-complaining about him leaving Sale in the game too late but either is not reasonable. We need Sale to give us some innings. Getting less than 5 from Sale just isnt an option.

Great, Acuna is not hitting in the leadoff spot, so how can they possibly fix him if they can’t move him to the leadoff slot?

Again, read what I wrote. I’ll wait.

Did I say:

1. Make a move.
2. Get ready to make a move.

Just answer 1 or 2 to demonstrate basic reading comprehension.

Where do you want Acuna hitting right now? Is it worth pissing him off to put him there?

The point is it doesn’t matter where he hits. Never has, never will. So before you misunderstand what I actually wrote, I better clarify.

I am not suggesting he be moved. I am not suggesting he will hit better somewhere else. I am not suggesting leadoff is a good or bad place for him.

I am simply pointing out that moving him to leadoff never has, and never will, be the reason he hits well.

Is that perfectly clear? If not, please ask clarifying questions.

Speaking of reading comprehension. Did you see the part where I asked what you wanted him to do ending with a question mark, as if I am asking what you meant. Practice what you preach sir.

I was perfectly clear what I wanted him to do. I wanted him to wake up and get ready to make a move. It’s literally exactly what I wrote. Like…exactly.

So again, reading comprehension.

Do you believe a hitter being happy or content can affect their performance? He wants to hit leadoff. He is our star player who signed for pennies on the dollar. I can think of worse things than giving our best hitter the opportunity to get the most at bats. Before the DH I might agree with you but we dont have a pitcher and 1 or 2 automatic outs at the bottom of our lineup. If we lacked other good hitters I might agree with you.

Well, is it helping him now? Is he happy now? And not hitting?

So if he’s happy in the leadoff slot, and not hitting, how important is it to make him happy in the leadoff slot?

Again, before the reading comprehension goes off the rails I’ll repeat this for the 2nd time. Your response suggests to me you don’t grasp what I’m saying. If you are confused please ask clarifying questions:
