GDT #42: 5/18/14: Braves (Floyd) vs Cardinals (Garcia '14 debut)

Man if only Justin Upton was any good. We should trade him for something. Maybe a pile of bagels. THat would make Bossman get over his sibling rivalry.

I find it funny that, for this team, all wins are "gifts" and all losses are the inevitability that pertains to being the worst team in the league.

I'll take it if it keeps being the calculus for first-place.

Braves, when Dan Uggla starts: 18-11
Braves, when Dan Uggla sits: 5-8
15% of people who dislike mayo are good dancers, compared to 29% in general.

IMO, we got with this lineup, we score a lot of runs.

I'm not claiming Uggla makes this team win, fwiw. But many seem to think that playing him increases the chances of our opponent winning. And that simply hasn't been the case this year.

So you don't claim that Uggla makes the team win, but you do think that him playing does not increase the chances of the opponent winning. Or am I misunderstanding.

Graffy may be on to something. When Uggla is playing the rest of the team seems to step up because they know Uggs is dead weight. When he's not playing they protest Fredi by demonstrating their commitment to honor the three outcomes.

With Uggla out the lineup the team only hits homers, strikes out all the time, rarely moves runners over. Takes called 3rd strikes like Dan, and plays exceptional defense. Pops up with RISP and less than 2 outs.
