GDT: 5/04 - Braves @ MarLOLins

I know we have been bouncing around .500 all year, but I think this team is on the verge of a breakout. I really like what I've seen from the offense and the rotation the past couple of weeks.

While we've looked good tonight, I'd tap the breaks on any conclusions about the Braves based on beating up a bad Marlins team.

The Braves position players had 6.5 fWAR coming into tonight which is 3rd in the NL. This group is good.

Yeah this offense is legit, our defense is great despite tonight, Fried and Soroka look like legitimate assets in the rotation... Literally the only thing I'm worried about is our bullpen and I don't think it'll be too difficult to sort that out.

Agreed. The rotation will be fine. Hopefully we add Kimbrel in a month

My inference was made specifically based off the past couple of weeks, not just tonight's game.

Fair enough but I'm still not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel based on pedestrian results against the Reds, Rockies, and Padres. That said, I hope you're prescient.

You know with Riley hitting two bombs and so many of our position players playing REALLY well this year, you have to start thinking about whether we need to sacrifice some of that depth in order to supplement the bullpen.

I mean, we have legitimate hitters everywhere on the bench and in the lineup. We also have some surplus in the minors. We have a truck load of offensive depth right now.

At this point I'm not trading Riley, Pache, Waters, or Contreras for anything but a young stud with years of control.

Yeah I wouldn't move them either. Ideally we would be able to leverage either Ender or one of our bench pieces in order to supplement the bullpen.
