GDT 5/10/25: Braves @ Pirates - Beat the Bucs

That’s if you believe the offense will remember how to hit this year. We’re almost a month and a half into the season and they’re nearly dead last in the NL in runs scored. If that continues, the flukey wins will wash up and we’ll be left with very mediocre team.
I was pretty shocked to see this...

13th in NL in runs
4th in NL in runs allowed

Pitching is definitely carrying this team. It's time for Ozzie, Olson, and Harris to step up.

Albies has 0 plate discipline. If he gets up with anybody on I just assume it's an out. When Ronald gets back everybody will shift down a spot and that'll help but Albies and Allen need to be batting 8 and 9.

If Ozzie continues like this, White needs to play second when Acuña comes back. At least until he remembers he's a fourth/fifth outfielder.

After the 0 and 7 start the Braves have a 104 wrc+ which is 12th best in the majors. Not great but better than what's being portrayed.

I gave player of game for this one to Blewett for the combination of two 2-ip of shutout ball in extras this week. Say what you will of him, but that is outstanding.

there are no words. Just fire snit postgame. Maybe that will wake these losers up. AA gets the boot after the season if this continues.

I'm off today, so I've been sitting on my porch all morning, listening to podcasts. It's clear that no one who covers this team, whether in person or from a distance, really knows why the offense is struggling so much. Grant McCauley said he doesn't have a definitive answer either, but he mentioned that the hitters seem wound extremely tight. He thinks it might be more mental than anything and suggested that being so good in 2023 might have made these struggles even harder to shake. Esentially saying their confidencd is at a low.

On a slightly more positive note, Grant did say they're extending their hitting drills, so it's definitely not a lack of effort. He also noted a lot of frustration within the group, but he believes it's more on the hitters themselves than on Hyers.
