Torn thumb ligament for TDA
Damn. He would've been a good trade piece when the Braves start selling off parts at the deadline.
About the only piece that might be in demand is Morton and I wonder if he has a no-trade or limited-trade clause.
We have had the worst luck we could’ve imagined so far. It’ll only get better from here (hopefully).
3 bold predictions for the week...
1. Braves win both series
2. Ozuna hits over .400
3. Smyly gets a quality start
Perhaps he's talking NL and you're talking MLB?
I'm not really worried about the offense at all... but I'm really concerned about our pen and starters... just seems like no one wants to step up and seize the positions... I have real questions and worries about our pitching talent evaluators and development
There are a few glimmers of hope...
1. Nobody in the NL East ran off to a 17-11 start to the season.
2. The offense is scoring plenty of runs, and is projected to be better.
3. Fried is coming back, which is a pretty big step in fixing the rotation problem.
This team is a good week away from being back in first. If they can figure things out before the Mets and/or Nats do, they will be fine. At the deadline AA needs to shop for an OFer, some RHP for the BP, and possibly another reliable SP.
I think we should absolutely be worried about the offense. Contreas/Mathis, pache, and pitcher could make the braves the weakest bottom 3rd in the NL. Also until ozuna shows some life, not sure we can actually count on him being a dependable piece

eh... pretty much all the expected offense metrics show that the offense will be fine in the long run... Ozuna will be fine...
Well yeah, ozuna is the least of my worries in the group of him, pache, and contreas/Mathis. The advanced stats like pache and contreas/Mathis?
Most lineups have one or two guys with average to below average production. The rest of the lineup is so explosive, it easily makes up for that weakness. We don't know what we have in Contreras... we do know that d'Arnaud was not likely to come anywhere close to producing like he did last year... Contreras could easily come close to matching d'Arnaud's usual production. Pache can only get better.
