GDT 5/20/26: Braves @ Marlins - Fish for Sale

I think they could survive that easier than a Wheeler or Sanchez hitting the IL imo...
I don’t understand how they keep pitchers so healthy. Wheeler is old and finally had (non-pitching related) issues. Luzardo was a walking injury before going there. Sanchez hasn’t missed a pitch.

Wheeler is due for some pretty major regression unless his metrics improve. He has the highest hard hit rate of his career, but his HR rate is a miniscule .28. His swing and miss % is a down a lot too.

Idk, he’s still working back. Until he’s not great while out there, I won’t bank on him not being great.

Philly played one of their easiest stretches of the year, while Atlanta had LA and Sea on the road, plus the Cubs. Philly's next 12 are 3 with Cle, 6 with SD, and 3 with the Dodgers. Braves can easily bury them in that stretch. If Philly went around .500, that would be impressive, that's a brutal stretch of games.

Even then, a 7 game lead is pretty fucking huge, and is still the largest in baseball. It just shows how hard it is to overcome a huge lead. You have to play like unsustainable baseball and the team ahead of you needs to have a collapse like no other Fredi Gonzalez.

Red Sox are pretty blah so if they are out of it at the deadline I'd go after Chapman and make the BP basically unhittable and shorten games to 5 innings. Having Lee, Suarez, Chapman, and Iglesias coming out of the bullpen would be insane. I'm guessing Buxton will be available too and he would really put the team over the top and he only has 2/30 after this year. Moving him to LF and DH should keep him healthy.

I am definitely not against getting a high leverage relief pitcher. Preferably a left-hander. But if you compare Fuentes with Chapman, They aren't far off from each other. I really hope WW starts to Press DF more in high leverage situations.

Same. Chapman has that experience that DF doesn't have yet in the playoffs. With DF in the fold that would probably be the best BP ever assembled. A BP like that wins you a WS.
