GDT 5/20 The Backup Catcher and the Return Part Two: I Know You Strider

Most teams have actual mlb options. We have an AA team run by snit though, so normal stuff doesn't apply
Exactly. No one is suggesting acuna would be 100%. But there is no more injury risk with him playing in tripA versus mlb. If that were true then he should be in Rome or lower because those games mean even less.

And 50% acuna is better than twit leading off Verdugo every freaking game.

So, rehab stints are useless, but we would probably just let him play down there anyway if we had good depth? How does that make any sense?

The dude hasn’t played baseball in 12 months. Let’s take it easy.

Strider is trash if he can’t throw upper 90s. No one respects the fastball. That was a bad offense that made him look terrible. The stuff was not good.

I’ve never seen an offense that gets hot in the first 3-4 innings only to go into their shell for the rest of the game… more than the Braves this year and last year

Acuna playing at 80% effort for 6 innings a game every other day improves this team. He very clearly doesn’t need to shake off any rust at AAA. Any PA he takes should be for the Atlanta Braves, especially considering the other options on the roster.

If he’s going to get hurt playing baseball it’s going to happen no matter what uniform he’s wearing. But “the plan” was likely to give him 30 PAs, and nobody is going to risk going against “the plan” when it comes to the most naturally talented player to ever put on a Braves uniform.

I bet he’s here Friday. Why start trusting a damn thing AA says now ? 🤣
Because it looks like Strider might have been rushed back.

If that's the case, then they might play it safer with Ronald. Granted it's a pitcher vs. position player. If we didn't hava Ozuna at DH, Ronald probably DH's for a month while taking OF practice between games.

I'm curious if the operation Strider took instead of TJ has affected his velo.

I agree on the Velo, but I want to give him a month and see - it took Sale awhile, and he had a full ST.

Unless he gets the velocity back, he won't be an ace again. He can still be a good pitcher if he gets his control back though.

Like a 94-96 guy can't be an ace lol. Strider will be fine once he shakes the rust off. This is basically a rehab assignment. I can already see Ronald going 0-4 the first game back and all the sky is falling guys coming around saying he's done or needs to be batting 7th.

That offensive performance last night was disheartening.
Again, leading off with a black hole set the scene for the night. Verdugo vs lhp certainly wasn't the only problem, but deliberately hamstringing your offense before a pitch is thrown is a huge problem
