GDT: 5/31, Braves @ Giants; Day Off For Freeman

Yeah, I'm sure the manager has nothing to do with that. Braves went to the postseason 14 straight times and won once. For that reason, I respect the heck out of what Bochy has done.

Its the type of lineup they have. No holes and really only one great hitter. Just a collection of guys that don't strike out and will battle every AB. Thats the key...and a crazy hot pitcher.

I won't lie. I swore we'd get slaughtered today. Baseball is such a weird game.

Bochy is a great manager and anyone that argues against that looks silly IMO. They either know nothing of his track record or they are just trying to spin to make Fredi look good. Bochy unlike Fredi is among the best, if not the best, at managing the bullpen. However, I did disagree with not bringing in Lopez today vs Peterson. But it's not Bochy's fault Crawford botched the DP ball setting that up. And I am not sure how much Lopez has been used lately or if Bochy was hoping to rest him today for some reason.

Most people thought this Braves team would lose 100 games and it looks like adding at the deadline is a legitimate option this season. Baseball is a strange game indeed.

Playoffs are a crapshoot.

But yes, Bochy is a great manager, i still think Fredi gets too much hate around these parts but thats another discussion for another time.

No doubt about the crapshoot but winning three titles in five years is a magnificent accomplishment--one of which I, as a Braves fan, am honestly jealous.

I also agree that Fredi's not nearly the idiot he's portrayed to be on message boards.

With all the fretting about Teheran and his alleged injury, isn't it Roger's call? Easier to blame Fredi, because he is the source of everything bad that happens, but its the pitching coach's job to fix a pitchers mechanics and his call to recommend shutting him down if he feels it can't be done between starts.

(I have no idea what is wrong with Teheran)

HOpefully its just customary struggles from a young pitcher. Julio is still a baby and development doesn't end when you are called up to the major league level

Has anyone said Bochy is a bad manager, we all know your thoughts on Fredi :)

More than happy to get out of California at .500. I think we are a few reliable relievers away from a playoff spot. Never thought I would say this but maybe they should look at bringing back David Carpenter. He Went Javy Vazquez in New York, I think he would do better back in the NL. He might be DFA'd soon.

I disagree, I don't think bringing back Carpenter is the answer. Now if they'll give us Shreve back for cheap that's another story. :)

Good diea since he won't have to face Uribe anymore

Wow the Brewers starter only went 3 innings in a 16+ inning game. They already brought in tommorrow starter Garza and he has pitched 4 innings already.

Fredi also finally admitted that he has not been comfortable with what he's seen from Teheran recently

#Braves Avilan wasn't available to pitch, Fredi said danger of wearing him out. Hence the Donnie Veal appearance in tied game. Yikes.

Maybe its time to give Julio a 15 day DL vacation and call up Wisler or Banuelos to give them a taste of the big leagues.

If Uribe keeps hitting like today and yesterday, might want to hit him 4th and see how that works. That would give us some power in the clean-up spot.
