GDT: 5/9 at Rays

But Joe, Snit DOESN'T have to use Viz here. He could've easily used Biddle here but chose to use his "closer" due to the stupid save statistic.

Or how about to give him a chance to get his confidence going? Giving him an opportunity to rebound from yesterday’s save. I understand you got Biddle tickling your tonsils but leave the managing up to Snit.

The unfortunate part of this is that we basically used the DH to get Charlie Culberson in the lineup for two games.

Flaherty wouldn’t have started against 2 LHed SPs. Culbertson is on the roster because Swanson is hurt.

It's a combination of two things. Neck is striking out only 8% of the time compared to the mid to low teens in previous years. Obviously putting more balls in play will help his numbers. And either by luck or design his launch angle has increased and instead of line drives for singles you are seeing doubles and homers.

It’s really weird though. He’s hitting the same amount of flies, but has converted grounders into liners. His 14% HR rate isn’t likely sustainable because he isn’t hitting the ball any harder than usual.

It’s just a really odd change in his hitting profile

The increased launch angle will do that. Who knows if it's just a fluke or something he's actively working on. It's working now though so hopefully it continues.
