GDT 6/12/19: The Second Half Begins

If Keuchel is willing to accept a 1 year deal for less than 20 million, I may consider bringing him back. I think that is highly unlikely and I don't think Dallas is going to be a Brave after this season.

He is good enough and has a good enough track record to warrant more than that. I am fine with a 2 year @~20 with team option for third. Or some variation of that. DK is a control pitcher which should age better. Evaluate his command this year and make a call.

2 with an AAV of around 17M would be ok with me. 20M is a bit rich. He might well get it. But I wouldn't want to go there.

If you are building a team option on year three the AAV has to be higher. I would be ok with anything lower than 20. Not anything over though.

It would be sort of like the jake contract the faillies gave. Not great but isn’t going to kill them.

We’ll definitely need some stability in the rotation going into next year so I’d be fine giving DK 2 years with an option.

Phillies will sign Keuchel. After they don't make playoffs this year they're gonna get desperate and double down on spending for FA.

He and Cole joining Nola might make them legit contenders if they don’t suffer any serious injuries (that’s always a big if). They still won’t be able to fix their depth issues in FA.

3M a year will do that to you? We have sp much surplus value and at this point we just need high impact players. Id be happy to pay him 20M a year to stabilize the rotation.

yeah...and the third year is a no-no for me too

I thought Keuchel used to throw harder. Apparently he has always been 89-90 mph. It's still hard for me to see anyone giving him 3+ years. I was very impressed with him vs that RH heavy lineup of the Padres.
