GDT 6/14/'14: Braves (Floyd) vs. Angels (Richards) 7:15 EST

I think I understand why Fredi made the call to pinch run Uggla. Don't think I would've done it, but that's neither here nor there.

If Simmons liner is about a foot more to the right, we're not talking about it. Instead we're celebrating a win right now.

Just not sure how it makes sense to take out your best hitter in a tie-game. Uggla is a good baserunner but number of plays that would score Uggla and not Gattis are small.

Not that much professional catching experience plus some issues with his knees. I think they are treating him like a pitcher and stretching him out over a year. Essentially they are buying time till the DH comes to the NL and Gattis hits 45+ homers a year.

So is it precautionary. I mean has anybody asked Gattis how his knees feel after a night game. I mean that's a big at bat difference.

I am just completely dumbfounded.

Not only do you take your best hitter out of the game, but you just depleted all your potential pinch hitters on the bench. And the move makes no sense from the get go, because Uggla is not a better runner than Gattis. Obviously, he isn't a better base runner, as he didn't freeze on the line drive with only 1 out.

Yeah, can't say it made any sense unless the bears knees were growling

If my Grand Ma had ball she would have been my Grand Pa.

I completely understand what you're saying. Fredi taking a chance with a "slightly" faster runner with a game on the line. Didn't work.

Like I said, don't think I would have done it either.

Well Freeman plays everyday as well. I think the Braves are handling Gattis well this year. I want to see him in there more but overall you can't argue with his production.
