Not sure I understand half the comments being tossed around.
Fried gave up an infield single and a bomb to one of the premier power hitters in the game.
He was never a TOR of his early season elite control didn’t hold up. His slider is a perfectly good pitch, but it isn’t new and catching guys off guard anymore. His curve is still elite, and plenty of pitchers with elite curves get by just fine throwing it quite often.
Fried’s issue was always been and always will be the lack of rise on his FA. He added a good slider and was controlling the zone very well early. The control has regressed as expected, and hitters have adjusted to the the slider as expected.
I’m not really sure why there is any surprise overbwhat Fried is doing right now. It’s been expected the entire time.
