GDT 6/14- MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE

AA was right when he said our rotation is in worse shape than our pen on High Heat discussing the DK signing. He admitted needs for both but said he was more concerned with the rotation and that made DK more important to sign than Kimbrel. Though he also said he was interested in signing both.

So he didnt think fried was a tor based on a few starts at the beginning of the year

He only talked about possibly needing to limit the innings for Soroka and Fried. That was another consideration in deciding a starter was the biggest need.

Whoever DK pushes to the BP will obviously lessen the need to add there.

I still can’t figure out who’s leaving the rotation in a week though.

The Braves have a legit #2 in Soroka, Folty who is probably still considered a 2/3 despite recent struggles, and a bunch of guys that should be a 3/4 in Gausman, Fried, Newk, Touki, and Teheran.

I think when all is said and done the rotation for the 2nd half will be Soroka, DK, Folty, Gausman and Teheran.

Gausman might be really hurt and struggled trying to play through it.

I always thought the rotation would be fine but I’m getting worried about Folty. That combined with some expected regression from Teheran, Fried, and Soroka is concerning. I do think Soroka will still be good but Fried and Teheran are more likely back end of the rotation although they’re still solid pieces. That still is a rotation that is less than ideal for a playoff team.
