gdt 6/25 reds

This is not Snit's best game but our issues tonight are much more because of massive roster holes.

Acuna will solve the Bourjos problem.

Phillips SHOULD solve the Sims problem.

Do we have anything in AA or AAA (and on the 40 man) that can solve the Freeman, Moylan, and Flaherty problems?

the alternative was Luke Jackson...if Luke had come in and given up 2 runs people would be saying the same thing

I trust Luke a lot more than sims, and I don't trust Luke that much. Jackson does k 12 per 9, and has a 3.89 FIP. Sims had a 6.32 FIP before tonight

A single by Swanson maybe scores one. A successful bunt and a single by Flaherty scores 2. It's a solid play IF you half a halfway decent pinch-hitter.

Yes, a single by Swansonn scores one and you still have 2 on with nobody out... a real chance at a big inning... And since you're already assuming a hit by the next hitter, I suppose I can too, right?

Laying down the bunt there basically gives us a good shot at scoring 1 run. Letting him hit gives us a much better chance of a crooked number.

As it stands, you saw what happened

Since May 1st, flaherty is .184/ .245/.265. Culberson can play 3b. Why is flaherty still here?

You may as well DFA him, add Carlos Franco to the 40 man and call him up as a bench bat.

Last I checked, Flaherty had a negative defensive WAR which was the main reason for his signing.

Much as I'm down on Freeman, if he could've snagged a come backer in the 7th his performance would've been pretty solid.

So you bring in Flaherty in a very key situation where he, of course, fails. Now you bring in Charlie Clutcherson in a 1-out, no one on situation. Brilliant.

So...After shutting out the mighty Yankees 4-0 on Saturday, the Rays — literally redefining roles in using openers, relieving starters and consecutive bullpen days since going all in on this plan May 19 — have since posted the best ERA in the majors, 2.98.

And they shut out the Nats tonight....
