GDT 6/28/23: Braves @ Twinkies - Powerful Ass Lineup for Allard

I mean if we get Chapman, I think Heler or Tonk or JJ could go. I don't know who has options if anyone.. but there are clear upgrade ops.

It’s possible Padres are sellers by July and I wouldn’t be shocked to see them trade Hader since he’s a FA. That’s a guy that I think truly moves the needle.

We definitely have the pieces for Chapman, but would we use them? God, I hope not.

IÂ’m talking AJSS/ DeGrandpre Â…. One of those + would probably be the ask

AJ's probably our best chip, absolutely not moving him for Chapman.

I doubt we'd even have the pieces to outbid anyone for Chapman. With the additional wildcards, there's so many teams who think they're gonna be contending.

I was just also reading how few teams are truly out of it this year, due to the expanded wild card and weak Central divisions. So there will be few sellers and many buyers, driving the prices up.

Just to underscore what we are seeing unfold before our eyes …… the gravity of what our ballclub is doing …..

Over the last ten Philly has gone 7-3
Over the last ten Miami has gone 7-3

Both of them have lost 2 full games in the standings over that span.

The Mets- with the highest payroll in the history of baseball- here at the halfway point - are 17 games behind us in the standings.

As was already posted in here- with Tampa’s incredible start…… we have now run them down too— and are a game better in the loss column—- with the Braves owning the highest winning % in baseball.

And Fried is on the way.

Agreed. Someone who could facilitate giving all of Riley, Arcia, Albies and Olson a day off each month would be nice.

For what reason? They are all gonna end up with at least 4 days off this month. It's not like they are running a half marathon everyday.

what a good scheduling break for the Braves. To have an off day at home before a big home series with the closest division victim. Once we curb stomp them, we will have put every in the east on notice that taking the division from the Braves will not be an easy task.

And I am trying to figure out who is pitching Friday.. I just don't see them wanting to do another BP game with Chavez still out.. Bring Soroka up, then you have to send Allard down I guess, but you are burning options.. I can't remember how many you have in a year now, but just got to be careful not to paint yourself in a corner yo yo'ing guys.

One option used a year even if you call that guy up 100 times. So for Allard and Soroka, the damage is already done.

Shuster was sent down after the game. Soroka is likely taking his spot and pitching Friday.

And while I doubt this matters with Allard as I don't see him staying in Atlanta all year. He technically hasn't had an option burned yet this year since he was in AAA on rehab.

It's hard to find a hole on this roster that can be addressed via trade. Even the LF platoon is working out exceptionally well. I'm thinking AA gets the most expensive rental SP he can find that can essentially be had for no prospect cost.

The goal in the 2nd half should be not leading MLB in "most guys who've played every game" stat like it's 1986.

Kudos to the front office for being calm enough to see if the players they had might return to form.

Braves have really had most things go their way during this run other than injuries, arguably.
