GDT 6/3/25: Braves vs Diamondbacks - Harris Back Where He Belongs

Worst case with strider imo is a great closer when he gets his control back. Maybe even a 2-inning guy. Surely if he needed to he could bust upper 90s in short stints

Eovaldi, Taillion, Hudson, paddock (back to career era and right under velocity), and degrom. Thats 5 guys that back or one the road to be back. Now name some with the other procedure

talking about lazy reporting... so what was the ERA of those pitchers before the procedure. are we saying they improved or got worse. I hate people who are lazy at their jobs.
I really hope it's him trying to create a story, and the pitchers sucked before and after. And could be a super small sample if the procedure is new, and this stat could look different in September

Serious question. Say you are acuna or ozuna, heck even Olson and you are playing every night and you continue to see the manager make obvious decisions that clearly are wrong and that contribute to the team getting in a bigger hole. As a human do you just sort of give up and just stop trying so hard. Not completely give up but sort of just half ass it. It has to be frustrating.
While I seriously doubt Acuna is capable of that level of thinking, this is the only type of scenario where getting rid of Snit now makes sense.

If guys are becoming unmotivated a move must be made. And the only way to determine that is a truthful conversation between AA and guys like Albies, Riley, Olson and Sale.

While he doesn't have much data to go off post-procedure, Drew Rassmussen had the brace procedure done in 2023. In the 91 innings since his return, he has a 2.36 ERA, including a 2.14 ERA in 12 starts this season.

It would seem the Rays were smart by letting Rassumussen work his way back in the pen over the final 2 months last year. We probably should have done that with Strider. I realize our rotation is pretty gross at the moment, but this is the mess AA created. Don't double down on your mistake. Let Strider be used as an opener or a long reliever for now and go out get a reliable starter and see if you can salvage the season.

well it is 700 innings pitched combined after the procedure.. but again, we don't know the ages of the pitchers.. the effectiveness of the pitchers before, or if one guy is really skewing the results.

I still contend that if the brace holds then he will be fine and can get his velo back when he has a full offseason to condition properly.

Lol. Except that there have been way more 2nd TJS recipients than of the brace procedure. That outcome is extremely low, and only Eovaldi and deGromm were premiere pitchers both before and after (although deGromm remains to be seen). Otherwise it wouldn’t be considered an “experimental” procedure.

my only hesitation is twit.. does he know how to properly use Strider in that scenario? not over use him.. using him back to back.. I don't know if that would be worse for him or not. But I don't trust that idiot with anyone's health at this point. But I tend to agree in premise, that Strider in the pen makes more sense this season with another inning durable starter to fill the void.

there is a difference in getting a second TJS at 26 versus a second at 33... I have a feeling the number of success stories from 2 TJS will continue to rise as the procedure seems to be a more and more common occurrence at younger and younger ages..

The pitches that were hit for homers last night were mostly 4seamers at 94, right down the middle.

While the velocity is obviously a big deal, keeping the 4seamer out of the middle of the zone seems like just as big of a problem right now.

If 94 is where he is, then the command needs to be better. 98 in the middle of the plate won’t get hammered as often, but is still not a recipe for success.

There's no hitters on the mlb team. There's no hitters on the farm. This is just a terrible offensive organization. No idea what happened last May, but it was an extinction event for the braves offense. There's no coming back for this group, so blow it up. Murphy should be traded ASAP. Ozuna at the break. Get rid of albies or Harris if someone makes a decent offer. Hell, reload the farm by trading Acuna. I hate every player on the field now save Baldwin
