GDT 6-7: Philadelphia Phillies (21-35) at Atlanta Braves (24-32)

I really hope Newcomb continues to improve at the major league level. A rotatation of Folty/Teheran/Newcome/Allard/Soroka could be one hell of a rotation. And if those guys falter we all know about whats in reserve.

Not to beat a dead horse....would be really nice to have Wood in there also. Crap!!

For the 130 innings a year? It just would have been nice to get actual value for him in return. I'm fine not having him on the roster.

More like 160 but nice try. And yes 160 innings of high quality production is better than 200 innings of Colon/Dickey production.

Folty led the game with .324 WPA (win probability added). Shutting out the other team for 7 innings will generally do that.

yes, but I also think it is easier to pitch with a 4 run lead over a 1 run lead. Folty got lucky as well. Ender with a 5 star catch.. Folty's catch had to be 5 stars that turned into 2 outs. Not taking anything away from him.. I just personally think Swanson's homer was the pivotal moment.

Does anyone else have the thought process that Snitker is only going to be the manager through this season? The front office gave him the 1 year deal as a thank you for his service to the team last year and his service to the organization for 40 years. It also helped appease the players who wanted him and a lot of the fans who were impressed with him last year (not me). After this year, he will likely be allowed to return to coaching in the minors, or the front office will find a cozy position with them like they've made up positions before.

I think it's odd that Ron Washington would leave one 3rd base coaching job for another without being promised possibly the Braves managerial job in 2018. I'm not a fan of him either since he nor the front office puts any faith into advanced statistics.

Matt Adams as a Brave has a 134 wRC+

It's not quite Freddie territory but it's 90 percent there. He's been quite the pick up thus far.

I don't think we could get anything more for him than what we gave up. I think he holds more value in the Hinske role.

It would be nice to have a bat off the bench for a change.

I'd agree with this if we were competitive this year. Since we aren't, deal him even if it only brings back something similar to what we gave up.

I agree with everything you've posted here except the Ron Washington angle. I was hoping they would go outside the organization for the new manager as well, but Snitker did make a case for himself. But his bullpen management is suspect.
