RaMIRA!
Not pinch hitting for Laird with Gattis was about as stupid as I've seen in a while. That was awful. No it is not all Fredi's fault. But a few things came together in this game that he contributed to.
1) Over-utilization of Avilan in late May. 6 games in 7 days. Day game after high stress pitches previous night against Mariners. That kind of usage leads to injuries/loss of effectiveness.
2) Under-utilization of Hale. Had not pitched since May 31. That type of usage leads to rustiness/loss of effectiveness.
3) Not pinch hitting Gattis for Laird with the bases load in the 8th.
4) Not pinch hitting for Harang in the 6th with a runner in scoring position/sending Harang out in the seventh even though he had not looked sharp and was lucky at that point to be carrying a shutout.

For the Fredi supporter(s) how can you defend the decision to not pinch hit Gattis in Lair's spot?
