GDT 7/10/22 Braves vs Gnats - Bust Out the Broom

Been lurking some Mets forums the last few weeks.

Originally the sentiment was "the braves aren't playing anybody" (during our streak) to "our schedule is gonna be favorable down the stretch" to "We're still in good position to win the division with DeGrom and Scherzer coming back" to now it's "Mets are in good position to make the playoffs with .500 ball the rest of the way (90 wins) and DeGrom coming back and Scherzer not full strength yet".

The five stages of grief. Currently now on #4.

It's starting to settle in for them lol.

Mets schedule in September is SUPER soft. But long way to go between now and then.

I'm guessing it'll be 2/3 either way for the Braves/Mets, would love to see us sweep them though lol.

We should probably be in first place now. But these stupid games that we piss away

Perhaps true, but we've also won a bunch of close games that went either way. Other than the Phillies game where they kicked our ass, all our losses are really close in the past 30+ games. But you cant win them all.

I get so tired of hearing that cliche in interviews where players say guys are picking each other up.

But this is one of those times it actually rings true. Riley has carried the offense a few days. Before that Olson won us a few games. Then Swanson did. Acuña did. Harris has. D'Arnaud and Contreras as well.

It truly has been a team effort on offense during this run. When Ronald got hot others were cold. And now he's slumping but other guys are picking it up. Imagien if they all start clicking tomorrow.

Braves offense is deep enough, where not everyone needs to be clicking at the same time. When Albies is back, everyone 1-9 is a threat to carry the lineup. Be nice if Ronnie got on a hot streak though.

You'd think that a little more humility could do him good and well as having so many good hitters around him.

I wonder how he feels about not anymore being the best fielder or hitter playing in the outfield. Okay, he's still the better hitter...or is he? It has to be something he's thought about.

Why? Because he’s been in a slump for a few weeks? Good grief some of you act like his best days are behind him at 24, like great players aren’t allowed to struggle from time to time. I pick on him about being a little diva’ish at times but let’s pump the brakes here.

For real. This "off" season thus far for Acuña, coming off a major injury/rehab, is still pacing for almost 4 fwar. And I have faith he's going to go on a couple tears before the season is final.
