GDT 7/20 -Grant Holmes in: Take the Series From These Damn Yankees

Snit has to be absolutely the dumbest manager ever. So he said in the post game that he didn't know that anything was going on between Eddie and Jazz and he was sitting right there by Eddie? As the manager how the hell do you not know what's going on. He said he still isn't sure what happened. And this is the guy we allow to run the team???
Dude is more useless than a knot on a double-ended dildo.

There aren't any answers to quadratic equations rolling around his noggin, but my guess is he's making sure Eddie isn't thrown under the bus.

I don't care if we need pitching in 2026, if someone values Holmes enough to trade a good piece for him, we need to do it.
100%. Holmes’ value lies in Ks and controllability. That’s useful to the Braves—but mitigated by the presence of a bunch of developing arms in the upper minors, and more elite options that should be returning in 2026. Plus there’s Cease out there as a hopefully-legitimate FA option.

Meanwhile, the Ks and (especially) controllability could make him extremely attractive to contending teams heading towards the deadline—in particular smart, budget-conscious teams that know how to use two-TTO pitchers (looking at you, Devil Rays); but also teams desperate for pitching, period (Yankees, Doyers).

Seems like Holmes is thus an unheralded chip who could net players that should help the offensive depth of the Braves’ system, and thereby strengthen the soft-reset Anthopoulos should be angling to accomplish.

Holmes is intriguing. If someone over values him then it's hard not to cash in that value considering we picked him up for nothing. But if anything this season once again shows that you need like 8 starters on your team to survive a whole season.

That said, he's gonna end up with a little over 1 WAR. I'd say that's acceptable 5th starter on a contending team level. Just not sure what another team would give up that would make it worth it.

You need more like 12. And Holmes is a good one. He’s gonna be worth more in ‘26 than some A ball pitcher whose arm is gonna fall off in a few years anyway. If we are building toward next year, Holmes is the kind of pitcher I’d be keeping.
Said differently, if you trade Holmes, you gotta replace him. With what? Trade that same A ball pitcher whose arm is gonna fall off in a few years anyway? Better to just keep Holmes…. At least that’s my .01

Fairchild released, and Sandi Lean the catcher recalled to MLB club.
Impossible to do Occam's Razor with Anthopoulos, but this could mean two things: (1) the end of the Ozuna era, or (2) putting Murphy in the line-up every day to showcase him. I tend to think it's the first, but I've quit trying to figure out Anthopoulos.

Holmes is the perfect back end starter. Cheap. Can be a great reliever if the rotation is full. Why we would trade that I dont know. We have such a gift in the flexibility of Lopez and Holmes. We need to overload on pitching. Lopez and Holmes should be the 6th and 7th SP going into the year.
