GDT 7/24/21: Braves @ Phillies - SJ24 to the bench

I suspect the Braves wait until after the 5 game series with the Mets on whether they buy or sell. Hopefully it's lopsided one way or another to make the decision easy.

Really don’t want to ride you into the ground, but you’re really our only viable GDT starting option right now. We really need you down the stretch with other GDT starters like Hula and Salma becoming increasingly unreliable.

I met with Dr. Andrews and was told there was no stucrural damage. Rehab in AA went well. Bottom line, I’m ready and best shape of my life.

i really don't understand why they don't just score 15 runs a game. it makes it much easier

Almonte is a reasonable option vs RHP. Now AA needs to go get a platoon partner for him, or an everyday bat to replace him.

Wonder if a reasonable thought that wouldn't add much payroll would be to go get Kennedy and add in enough filler to get them to throw in Culberson? Much stronger against lefties, and his versatility would give you reason enough to DFA Panda to create the roster space for him. He hits lefties well and gives you someone you could actually use to play defense somewhere (LF against lefties), and having someone you already know everyone in the clubhouse really likes might help with any waves caused by cutting Panda loose.

Newk could be sent back down to make room for Kennedy, Ynoa replaces Tomlin in a week or so, and you DFA Greene to bring Minter back if he has a couple more good outings in Gwinnett. In the event they want to keep Greene you could still send Santana back down if you want a third lefty in the pen.

They have to do something about position players pitching. It's embarrassing.

Whats the alternative? Having an additional roster spot that can only be used with a certain deficit and for a minimum of a certain amount of innings?

Do you add more 'liquidity' into the player movement system then between the major and minor leagues? Remove restrictions on number of days a player has to stay down?

You don't need any of that. Games like last night are few and far between. Letting a pitcher take one for the team isn't going to hurt anybody.

You're probably right about this but if it does happen few and far in between then couldn't an argument be made that it adds a certain enjoyment factor in an otherwise blowout game?

I don't think most people care either way.

I've got to admit - My engagement level goes up a little when a position player comes in.

This is of course as my engagement level is low because the game is pretty much in hand one way or another.
