GDT 7/25/21: Braves @ Phillies - Must Win

does it matter in what order they happen?
Yeah. You said we've seen this before. I'll give you we have with Wright in 2020 Sept 20 and 25th. There I gave you the answer. And I still say Touki and his two starts offer more hope. I said what I said.

How would Duvall's and Melancon's numbers look on this team? We migt actually still have a shot with those two.

Yeah, Duvall's .278 OBP would just be peachy. From some of the comments on this board about Duvall, I swear that he gave free hummers in the Quik Stop parking lot to his biggest fans.

Old--and now defunct--quality start stat required a pitcher go six innings and give up three runs or less. Toussaint far surpassed that today.

Thewupk I usually agree with you but the main difference between Touki/Wilson/Wright is one of them have ace stuff, the other two not so much.
While I agree we have to see it for half a season with Touki before we believe it, he’s still light years ahead of any of the pitching prospects we’ve had the last 3-4 years.
I’d even argue he’s got better stuff then Anderson who we all love and also has some control problems.
Although Anderson has been able to be consistent at this level while Touki has **** the bed.
Hopefully that’s another thing we can take out of this season into next.
Would be Yuge for our rotation to be able to run out Morton/Fried/Anderson/Ynoa/Touki next season.(not counting on Soroka the next year and a half at the least)

This is mostly what I'm saying. You still have to wish upon someone's star and Touki is my preference. May be fools gold but I'm good with it.

Touki has great stuff. But players usually don't learn command out of nowhere. And Anderson's "control issues" have resulted in 3.72 BB/9 in 128 big league innings. Not great but not horrible. Touki has real control issues. 5.75 BB/9 in 101 big league innings. That's a big difference and is what's going to limit Touki. I have doubts he can keep it under 4 BB/9 as a starter

Duvall is on pace for 2.2 fWAR. That would help

Yes. Duvall is on a 2.2 fWAR per 162 game pace. Heredia is at 1.9. Almonte at 1.1

It would have helped some but not that much imo. In terms of WAR. Atlanta is ranked 10th for position players. 16th for starting pitching. 13th for relievers. The team is just average as ****.

If the Braves aren’t going to get serious about getting a bat and bullpen pieces before this Mets series, then just need to go ahead and sell.

Theory I have based on nothing. Toukis stuff has always been ridiculously nasty but incredibly hard to control. Perhaps getting rid of sticky stuff has given him a little less movement and made his stuff a little easier to control

Have you ever written up his "Stuff" like you have Wright and Wilson?

Yup, and it has declined since. What people want Touki to be, what he actually is, and what he is likely to become are very different things. It’s a bit like everyone that had a boner for Newk about 3 years longer than was warranted.

You think ynoa, muller, or touki is the best bet for a successful mid-rotation starter?
