GDT 7-29: Braves at Royals Game 2

It’s amazingly simple…

Acuna shows any sign of fatigue or tweaks something, he sits. Period. It could not be any simpler.

There is quite literally no reason to be anything other than overly cautious with both Acuna and Strider this year.

So guess what snit, you bumbling moron? Strider doesn’t throw 30 pitches in an inning when it’s 100 degrees. He doesn’t start an inning if his pitch count starts with an 8. If he makes a single movement that suggests he may have tweaked anything, he’s out.

It literally could not be any simpler. Nothing else matters in this lost season.

I find it funny if the idiots on twitter who still defend Snit, and bashed Acuna, can't see this dude is playing his heart out for the team and literally willing to put his body on the line.

And we have a manager who just doesn't have a brain.

Bobby would have benched him already taking zero chances.

“Putting his body on the line “

You mean playing baseball? He’s still young as hell. It’s not like he’s some beat up 35 yo. Jeez.

He may be young as hell, but he still has two reconstructed knees.
Man- I get that.

But nfl RBs run for 150 yards on the same thing. Baseballs not the most demanding of sports physically. Most 28 year olds can run without hurting themselves. People are acting like he’s 45.

He’s made of glass, he isn’t “putting his body on the line” he’s just breakable

Actually multiple knee surgeries end RB careers early fairly regularly... Just look at Todd Gurley. And he's not a unique case

His ability to stay healthy is irrelevant. He isn't out here dogging it and playing like it's just another job (like Anthony Rendon). Dude is out there busting it every game for this team. He would literally play on 1 leg if he could.

Acuna is one of the few guys that you can tell by the way he plays that he legitimately loves to play baseball. He loves it so much that he plays it for free in the off-season back home in Venezuela.

He’s from Venezuela

And yes his ability to stay healthy is likely the most relevant characteristic of him other than his bat.

Yeah a bit of a mind slip this morning on the country, before I have had my coffee. But the point remains.

And I am talking about the "putting his body on the line" bit. How anyone can say he isn't putting his body on the line is absurd.

Acuna is starting to remind me of Byron Buxton up here in Minnesota. Buxton is a superb athlete who plays all-out, but he's on the 10-day IL again with a rib cartilage issue after bumping into the OF fence making a catch the other day. There are just some guys who get banged up fairly easily and if they are hard-wired to bust it on the field, they tend to get an IL stint or two (or five) during the season.

Seeing Acuna steal a base the other day when we were 16 games under .500 has me thinking we need to blow this up. The value of the parts far exceed the value we are getting from all those parts put together. The players are just flat out stupid. This trade deadline is a sellers market. Theres little to nothing out there that moves the needle much for any team. Detroit wants a 3B in a bad way. They flirted with Bregman in the offseason. I know people are down on Riley here but I dont think people viewing from the outside are. They would just view it as buying low. And being locked up until the 2030's we can rightfully get a haul back. Tigers have a great farm system. Max Clark and one of their top 2 SS would have to be in any deal imo. I know trading Acuna seems ridiculous but we cant rely on him maintaining his value. He is already out with an achillies injury. Which I guess takes away any possibility of a trade but hypothetically speaking if we had entertained the idea before the injury I think we could have matched up with the Mariners. They have a great farm system too. I would ask for their top 6 prospects. I kind of doubt they would accept that but I dont think its outside the realm of possibility. We desperately need a shakeup to the organization. We need to be converting expensive talent into cheap talent before we just sleepwalk through the next few years and curse our luck when things dont work out.

I mean there is nothing left for me to say about twit and AA. Been beating those drums for a good year now. Some of yall are finally coming around on AA finally. But my wonder is what is the Braves medical staffs actual job. Do they not evaluate players on a daily basis. I mean guys like Acuna and strider. Should there be some executive order saying to examine and talk to them on a daily basis and your team has the overriding authority to bench any player based on said exam.

Is the whole org infected with stupid. Well I guess they did let the dumbest person in baseball stick around for 50 years so never mind.

Man, sale and acuna are unbelievable, but they're made of glass. You can't count on either to last a full season.
Right, so maybe, just maybe, the manager shouldn’t let sale chase complete games or let Acuna play when he tweaked his Achilles.

Just a thought, but maybe it’s too complicated for snit.

I remember when a player was dealing with an injury and when he told Bobby he was good, Bobby would tell him take one more day off.

Ronald Acuna Jr is an amazing player. His skill set is among the best I have ever seen play the game of baseball. However, he tends to be a bit of a “wild horse”, if you will, that needs to be tamed on occasion. Snit has not done a great job of that.

Bobby is the reason the org has employed guys like Fredi and twitner... we really need to stop sucking his cox and rid the org of this good ol boy, gotta beat your wife mentality and move in a younger more progressive thinking group to fill out the management of the org.
