GDT: 7-30-13 Rockies at Braves, Wood pitching, JHey lead-off

It does feel good to know that the playoffs are ahead and it wont be a one game deal this year. We will get a chance to see what our guys will do in a 5-game series.

Yup, we are all frustrated at times with this team and say some things in the heat of the moment we dont' mean. But man, with all this talent anything can happen over a 3 week period. We have so many guys that can get hot and carry us. I just hope that Teheran is still pitching in the postseason.

There is a lot of baseball left.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch.

There is a lot of baseball left. But the NL East outside of the Braves is garbage. We have 7 games left against teams over .500. We are winning the division.

Last year the Nats were very lucky to win the division IMO. Every time you turned around they were pulling another game out their butts. It had to be frustrating for the Braves team to lose the division like that. I didn't think the Nats were a lot better than this year. The luck has ran out on that team.

We have nine left against them, and face their top 3 next week.

If they sweep us, they are back in it.

Haven't we learned anything from 2010 and 2011? I still remember that ill-fated "I know it's early, but the Wild Card is ours" thread.

Don't do that.

I get frustrated with them bc I know how good they can be. Cant win them all, but their play on the road has been brutal, and I know they are better than what they have shown.

I agree they got a lot of breaks, but i still don't think they were lucky to win the division. They clearly had the best team in the division.

In the category of Dumb Things the Homer Rockies Announcers Say: (After Simmons relay throw to the plate). "Yeah, Simmons is right there with Tulo. Tulo WILL win the Gold Glove this season with only 3 errors, but Simmons is right there."

They are probably right.

Especially since the Gold Glove is all about offense these days, anyways.

(And while it's still an inane, homerish thing to say, those guys may not watch as much Simmons as even the national commentators do.)

I mean we're talking about a team that is 3 games under .500 here after 107 games. Are you expecting them to suddenly flip a switch and turn it around? They've shown no signs of that and their clubhouse is in turmoil. Plus they have the tougher schedule. Their last 6 games of the season are on the road @ St. Louis and @ Arizona, who both maybe fighting for the same wild card as them.

It's going to be like that series we had in Philly in 2008. We were down 5 going in, I believe, and had a chance to get back in it. But we got swept and subsequently became sellers. We need to destroy any glimmer of hope they might have.

Well, as I said, the margin for error is so, so small.

If we play around .500, they can only lose like 17-18 the rest of the way.

If they sweep us, they are back in it.
