GDT 7-30: Braves at Royals - Game 3

A Charlie Morton-career arc would be handy right about now for Wentz.
Usually with hitters, you pretty much know what you have after a couple of seasons. With pitchers, every now and then you see a guy who has struggled find a period of success. Morton is an example of that. Best example (at least for me) is Mke Scott, who pitched for the Met and stunk and won the Cy Young for the Astros. Rumored scuffing was reportedly involved.

Hard to tell since their percentile rankings do not differentiate between his time before Atlanta and what he's doing now.

But the FIP, xFIP, and SIERA seem to match up with his actual results.
you can look at the game log on savant and see what his stuff and it compares today versus yearly avg.. nothing is really different today than it has been all year. MPH is within 1 on his yearly avg.. the breaks are all with 1 to 2 on his yearly avg. Only thing that jumps out at me today, is that he used his cutter a good bit more than his 4seam and had a good mix of curves. I think he just located really well and as long as he can do that he will be fine.. but no one should have dreams of him ever being an ace. He is basically Elder when Elder didn't completely sucked.
