GDT: 7/31/14...10:10 PM EST Start...Braves (No Heyward) vs. Dodgers

Cool. Maybe you should become a full fledged Cardinals fan. You complain when we win. You complain when we lose. You complain when we dominate. You spend more time complaining and trashing the team on here than actually posting anything positive. You get mad at people for being relieved Uggla is no longer wasting space on the roster. Yet you have been talking garbage about BJ since day 1 of last year even when he does good.

If he was a Cardinals fan he could complain about how the Braves are outperforming them this year.

Why are the Phillies so awful if the only thing that matters is money? Why are the Yankees not better? Why has Oakland had the best record in baseball nearly all season long?

When you compare Wren to other GMs in the league you realize just how much better they are than him.

For what it's worth the Dodger's payroll is ~$50+ mil more than the Phillies. And the Phillies are an extremely poorly run franchise. The Yankees have essentially bought WS recently, so it does work.

If the Dodgers are SO SMART why haven't they won anything any time recently? They're so great, right?
Address my points on Crawford, Ethier, Wilson, Gonzalez, will you? None of them are worth what they're making, and if we were paying them that it would totally bone us. It's a drop in the bucket for them.

Because you and your ***got pussy crying brigade always bring up money as an excuse. There are other teams with less resources than Atlanta and do more than the Braves do.

Not consistently.

Also, go look up the champions for the last decade. None are smaller markets than Atlanta.

But they aren't near worth their price tags. If we could pay someone like Gonzalez 22 mil and not break a sweat, **** it, I would do it I guess. Doesn't make it fiscally smart.

You wouldn't take any of them on this current team with our payroll limitations because it would screw us the way BJ and Uggla are.

The Cardinals are capable of spending as much as we are and they're just a class organization.

Beane is one of the best minds in baseball for the last two decades.

The Brewers haven't made the playoffs since... 2008.

So thr Brewers are better than us because they have a few more wins than us this year? LOL. We've made the playoffs 3 out of 4 years... but the Brew Crew are a better team and organization.

You think the Braves would ever give out a 7 year $215m contract to anyone?

Dodgers have the luxury of being in a bad division. Does anyone know SF has $40,000,000 in payroll on us? And this is after Zito is off the books.

Brian Sabean's incompetence has been whitewashed by 2 lucky WS runs. We saw 1 first hand. Go look at that roster we were left with vs. them in that series.

You know when thr Braves were #1 in payroll in the 90s we made it to NLCS and WS often. We didn't outspend everyone on a Dodgers scale and we also mixed great homegrown talent.

Perhaps this entire time you've been attracted to big spending teams without even knowing it. Now that the braves are a middle class team you don't seem to appreciate the struggle.

You have no consistent argument or point niners. You bounce around and make statements that are factually incorrect and the move on to something else when they're brought up. The Dodgers have a lot of money poorly spent. You bring up how smart the Dodgers are (they aren't), then the Cardinals and how our payrolls are similar (we're ahead of them this year), then the Brewers (as Keith said, haven't made playoffs since 2008, generally poor franchise).

And what small market team that does things so much better has won recently? I'll wait.

Unfortunately, as bad as Ethier has been this season so far, he would have much more an impact than that turd we have in CF...Gonzo is still a very serviceable hitter and is pretty good defensively....You are right, yes, they definitely aren't performing to what they are getting paid to, but they are still very established baseball players...

Fact is, the market is absolutely ruined! Baseball needs a fckn salary cap...

Also niners the Cardinals started the season ahead of us in payroll. And that's even after we signed Santana for 14 million.

Just watching MLB Network and they were talking about the Braves trade, and Harold Reynolds is handing the 2B job to Bonafacio. He said he was going to come in and be the leadoff hitter everyday and supplant LaStella. He couldn't be more wrong. Bonafacio is a bench piece for now, and if he supplants anyone it will be BJ Upton.

Did he manage to sexually harass anyone during that interview? I bet he and Mitch Williams 69 with each other in the dressing room before sets

I like Bonifacio but Harold is off his rocker again. La Stella is doing fine at second so outside of giving him an off day on occasion I doubt we see Bonifacio at second much barring injury. Though I do expect him to threaten BJ for center and possibly CJ some at third too. Plus he will probably give others in the outfield an occasional off day. Maybe even play short a game if Simmons needs an off day.
