GDT 7/4/21: Fish @ Braves - Arcia’s Braves Debut

As much as we (me included) complain about heredia, it's probably worth noting he's passed Riley in ops.

That shouldn't be a slight on Riley either. Heredia's 123 WRC+ and 1.2 fWAR in 53 games is completely unexpected and a welcome surprise. Helps lessen the sting of getting nothing from Ozuna and Pache a little.

Fried won it, but almonte made it possible. I like him as a starter vs rhp and bench option at least until we get a real lf. At that point, I'm fine with him PH bc he can draw a walk

I was only talking about using Fried as an early-game pinch-hitting option to keep better options free for later in the game. Fried was forced into being the hero today by necessity. And you're right. No big hit from Almonte, no heroics for Fried. But that indirectly makes my point. In the era of short benches, the bench has to be used wisely. Everyone was griping about Muller batting yesterday in the 5th. That wasn't the problem. The problem was sending him back out there for the 6th. These issues will largely vanish with the adoption of the universal DH (which won't mean that Snitker won't make other mistakes).

Great ass game. Battery shutting down at 8 sucked. Having to eat hotel food gave the me the worst Nashua and gas. Love hate thing but winning lime that after getting the D from the Umps ****ing rules
