We have an elite closer pitching against the bottom of a pathetic lineup. Makes sense that we panic about the NL East lead right now.
This is a very good topic for intelligent discussion. It’s too early to peg Riley as a platoon player, but...
OPS vs RHP (43 PAs): 1.311
OPS vs LHP (154 PAs): .783
Does it make sense to use Riley on the short side of a 3-headed platoon with Markakis and Inciarte at the age of 22 and give up that development time he could be getting at AAA?
With Duvall and Camargo (whose strong platoon side is against LHP) I don’t think it’s a reasonable course of action to relegate Riley to a role as the short side of a platoon.
Sounds like a solid strategy.
Someone should email this idea to the Braves FO and hope they alert Snit.
We are so lucky to have Acuna.
We are so lucky to have Acuna.
We found and signed him for a butterfinger and a coke, fair and square
There aren’t exactly a lot of other good options at the moment...
Shall we go back and review what folks were saying about Riley while I was pointing out these red flags from week 1?
I think at this point that Duvall is going to be used as trade bait. Camargo has been terrible vs everyone, lefties included. Maybe we could get the real Camargo back by the playoffs if he gets some playing time. Maybe.
As for Riley, getting to play vs every LHP and giving Donaldson and Markakis days off during a playoff run in the majors is valuable development in and of itself, arguably more than getting regular playing time in the minors. It also makes our major league team better.
What did they say?
Did Acuna just do a salute to the ball after he hit that single before dropping his bat?
How many here would be calling for him to be beamed if on the other team after bat flipping another single Against Yammy?
That he throws a legit 104 mph fastball.
Oh wait...that was someone else...
