GDT 8/10/20 Twit’s new righty lineup?

But he can't get away with that now with the new rules about facing 3 hitters. Can't use Newk as a "situational guy" anymore.

Right, so new usage would be bringing him in when 2 of the next 3 hitters are LHH. He still gets the platoon advantage more often than a SP who was the lineup stacked against him at the beginning of the game.

That has already passed. I think we only needed to hold a prospect down through the first week to gain the extra year of control. Tuesday could be the projected super 2 cutoff date which saves us from 4 years of arbitration.

The way they did the rules is weird. If someone is not on the 40 man it was only the first 6 days of the season, but for those already on the 40 it’s Tuesday

I don’t think there’s any doubt that when a pitch just so happens to cross the path of Riley’s bat it’s going to go a long way.

Welp, Newk couldn't have asked for a better opportunity this year with all the injuries we've had to our rotation. Instead of rising to the occasion he's taken another step back. At his age, there is not much hope left that he ever becomes useful SP. Hopefully he can continue to be a useful RP.

Coppy needs shot in the dick for trading trading Simba for Newk.

Yeah, I'd put the order of likelihood at...

Weigel
Davidson
Wilson

If I had to guess, they're going to try 3 or 4 different options before Anderson.

Because of the forty-man issues, I think that's probably true. But given the shortness of the season, the hype around Anderson, the fact that "delaying the clock" of young pitchers shouldn't really be a consideration, and the reality that the Braves need to fill two rotation spots, I'd like to see Anderson get the tryout in one slot, along with Wilson–Davidson–Weigel (probably in that order) in the other.

Well that is ****ing strange. Weird timing for the Braves because tomorrow is 30% through the season game-wise which is usually the super 2 cutoff date.

Another one bites the dust. For a guy who doesn’t know anything I guess I was lucky in calling both Newcomb and Faulty being bad.

Folty wasn’t bad though.

He was very bad turned bad. Then he became okay and actually good for a tiny stretch. Season ended and he comeback and was awful. Fill in the blank from end of last season to a couple weeks and we have our answer.

Didn’t he get outrighted by the Braves and nobody else in the league wanted him? If nobody thinks they could get something out of him that’s not a good sign.

I don't know, or really care, who comes up. They will have to have a higher ceiling than Newk. The important thing in my mind is we won't have to suffer thru any more starts from him.

it feels like torture watching him pitch. always all over the place, takes forever because every single count goes to 3 balls.

I had given up any hope he was going to develop into a three, but I'm surprised the Braves don't see him as an acceptable five under the circumstances.

I don't care a whole lot about the outcome of this season, so I guess I'm happy to get a look at other guys.
